Shemar Moore will star in the new iteration.

Sony Pictures Television has announced that the S.W.A.T. universe is expanding. A new spinoff titled 'S.W.A.T. Exiles' is in development starring Shemar Moore, who will reprise his role as Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson. The news comes just days after S.W.A.T. ended its eight year run on CBS.
"My eight seasons on S.W.A.T. have been epic and memorable," said Moore in a statement. "We entertained the world, defied the odds, came back from the dead twice, and continued to woo fans and families worldwide. I am excited for this next generation and iteration of S.W.A.T. with Sony. Katherine Pope, Neal H. Moritz, Jason Ning, and I will keep the franchise, thrill ride action, heartfelt drama, and storytelling of S.W.A.T. alive. WE DON'T LOSE!!!! ROLL SWAT!!!"

The spinoff will be produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Television. The studio is currently focusing on finding the right homes and partners for the 10-episode series. The hope is to reach the existing S.W.A.T. fanbase while attracting new viewers. Development is currently underway with production scheduled to begin this summer in Los Angeles, preserving jobs for the 200-person local production crew who were instrumental to the success of the original series.
'S.W.A.T. Exiles' will be set after a high-profile mission goes sideways, leading to Hondo being pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits. Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.

I'm looking forward to this spin-off. I liked SWAT and will miss it...I do hope this spin-off has some of the original cast in it though besides Moore. Can't wait to see it!

I speak out against racism and my post gets deleted. Awesome. Let the bigots, racists, and people who hate everyone have an opinion, just not people that endorse shows with diversity. Let the people cry WOKE all day, because people of color are on tv. Go SWAT! Go Hondo!

Good to see them keeping it going, i'll definitely watch. Big fan of the original show. Not sure about the 'coming out of forced retirement' as he didn't retire in the show. whatever gets viewers i guess. I'm sold, love these shows.
i'd like to see a bit more variety in the situations they need to do, maybe some new camera techniques like body cam stuff like On Call did which was intense.

We always get a "spin-off" with a new cast when the main actors' contracts are ending and they want more $. The new series will be more of the same old, same old just with new faces and new hook ups. How droll.
