The drama will not return for Season 7.
May 5, 2023
It is being reported that S.W.A.T. has been cancelled by CBS after six seasons. The news comes with two weeks left in the drama's now-final run, with its episode on May 19 set to serve as its series finale.
The cancellation is somewhat surprising, as the show has actually improved its linear viewership year over year significantly since it was moved to a Friday time slot. Along with 'Fire Country' and 'Blue Bloods,' it has made CBS the place to be for Friday night dramas. But unlike the other two, S.W.A.T. is not wholly owned by CBS.
Shemar Moore stars in the Los Angeles-based series, which follows a former Marine tasked with running a specialized tactical unit that acts as the city's last stop in law enforcement. Raised on the streets, he is torn between his loyalty to his roots and his allegiance to his new brothers in blue as he works to bridge the divide between his two worlds.

I really liked this show. CBS making a big mistake, maybe someone else will pick it up. Fingers crossed. So sad that we have to lose a show that actually stands for something.

I was a good show! Hopefully it ends up on another network. I doesn’t matter how good the ratings are. I all comes down to money!

Got worse and worse, woke, thin stores. Then trying to hard to be right on and up with it, lost its direction. I for one am glad its going.

This show actually had a basic respect for those in Law enforcement, but also depicted the human aspect of those to a very dangerous and sometimes frustrating or rewarding job. Non-Political, public service professions do not adequately, financially compensate those who risk their lives on a daily basis and run right smack into danger to stop dangerous people or save those they are holding in danger or save lives, whose loss - can't be undone. Episodes on racial aspects, those who go off the rails when they lost faith in a government, they feel have no respect for them (or their rights) and segments on garden variety evil/greedy people, who seemed to have never learned right from wrong - were aired with lots of action that many look for. They featured those who asked why these people would do this job, when there are so many other jobs where one has a higher chance of coming home after the shift was over. I started watching Shemar Moore on Criminal Minds and on both shows, he played a character who was always there to help, regardless of the danger, and he listened to people, regardless of their background. We need more role models like this man and when you watch shows such as this, they are not always going to cater to your opinion but it does allow you to explore what you would do in the same circumstances, or what you - may think. There have been other shows, like Seal Team (also a favorite that also helped Max Thieriot springboard to mega hit, Fire Country) who moved to an inexpensive subscription-based Paramount, which I at first bristled at having to pull out more cash to watch. But it does cover for when shows are pre-empted for sports (and you miss the one time aired, recording window) or weather warnings (need to heed those) cut out a good part of the show which then joins in progress, but also picks up some of your favorite shows, which you can still watch (24/7) after it leaves the channel it was originally on. Maybe this can be a good option for Swat. Are you out there – other Venues? We got one for you. Take Care, All!

Very sad to see SWAT go. I truly don't understand since it is getting good ratings. What's wrong. Is it really a bad thing when we show a black man being successful in a role of leadership? Sad, sad, maybe I'll cancel my Paramount subscription. Thank you, CBS

How about we tell Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Programming, that her press release was condesending to the cast, crew, creators and loyal fans of Swat. Enough stupid decisions like this and she will probably be done soon enough. Keep counting the money, Amy. To hell with the audience. The world is getting more intelligent, but keep putting out press releases where you assume you are the smartest person in the room. Nobody likes a phony!

CBS, Showtime and Paramount keep dumping great shows.Maybe a boycott is in order. Lets watch everything on Cbs and then call the advertisers and tell them we are not buying their products.DVR the shows and just watch the commercials. Send some emails or make some calls.Remember a bunch of "crazies" sent thousands of Peanuts to Cbs and Jericho got one more year. Go to www.cbs.com/showfeedback. Let your voices be heard.
