CBS announced today that S.W.A.T. has been renewed for an eighth season in 2024-2025. Coming with six episodes remaining in Season 7, the news is a bit of a surprise, as when the veteran drama was renewed for its seventh season, it was said to be its last.
"Here at CBS, we always 'stay liquid' and love a good dramatic twist, especially when it leads to an eighth season of S.W.A.T.!," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. "The show continues to resonate with viewers thanks to our talented cast led by Shemar Moore and our amazing writers and producers who keep the show relevant and action-packed. We're very pleased to renew it again and incredibly grateful to our partners at SONY, CBS Studios and Shemar for working so closely with us to bring it back for next season."
"S.W.A.T. IS BACK! BELIEVE IN MIRACLES! I am so proud of this show and the people and variables it has taken to make this show what it is and has become," said Shemar Moore, series star and executive producer. "I am so grateful to the fans around the world who have supported, watched, enjoyed and rooted for S.W.A.T.! It is entirely because of this support that S.W.A.T. will continue to shine! This is still a dream job for me... I love my S.W.A.T. crew, cast and writers and producers - we have made an incredible, fun, exciting, provocative and heartwarming show for the world to enjoy. Thank you to CBS and SONY for believing in S.W.A.T. and giving us this opportunity to shine!"
Moore stars in the Los Angeles-based series, which follows a former Marine tasked with running a specialized tactical unit that acts as the city's last stop in law enforcement. Raised on the streets, he is torn between his loyalty to his roots and his allegiance to his new brothers in blue as he works to bridge the divide between his two worlds.

I like SM but the plots have gotten awful and filled with ulta-powerful girl characters that can outperform all the men and more and more are being added to the team when the reality is that few can actually perform at the levels they need.
Still, there are a few fun bits with this show, but not sure I'll come back for 8 and they were good at getting rid of other characters I cared about
Is CBS going to change their minds about CSI-Vegas and/or NCIS-Hawaii? I watch both of these shows with my daughter and she is upset especially about CSI. It's my understanding they cancelled the NCIS because of $$$$
So down-trodden am I that I'm the leader of an elite police task force in one of the biggest and most influential cities in the world.
Chris had already quit, but Street was written out already. Luca was injured and retired out. Cabrera wasn't even in the prior episode. I suppose anybody who isn't killed off could be brought back in some degree/capacity, but flip-flopping or being wishy-washy on cancelling or not doesn't work.
I was hoping to see Shemar Moore in more bad product commercials.:)
