ABC announced today that American Idol has been renewed for a 10th season on the network - and what will be its 25th season overall. The news comes two months after the veteran singing competition crowned its latest champion.

The series has been a reliable performer for the network since being revived. It was in 2018 that ABC brought American Idol back as a mid-season entry just one year after it was cancelled by its original network, Fox. While the show's ratings aren't what they were during the height of its popularity years ago, the revived edition still draws a respectable audience. Season 24 kicked off earlier this year with the show's biggest season premiere in four years, and with its move to weekly Monday night episodes, it had its best Monday performance among total viewers in four years.

Last season saw the show's first judging change since it moved to ABC. Carrie Underwood replaced Katy Perry, who departed after seven seasons. The judging lineup for Season 25 has yet to be announced.
