A crime drama following a modern-day Sherlock Holmes solving crimes in New York.

Following a fall from grace in London and spending time in rehab, the eccentric Sherlock Holmes takes residence in Manhattan, New York, where his wealthy father assigns him a "sober companion", Dr. Joan Watson, to help with his rehabilitation.

Dr. Watson was a successful surgeon until she lost a patient. However, the eccentric Holmes is nothing like her other clients. As part of a post-rehab regimen he designed himself, Holmes resumes his work as a police consultant in New York, and Watson is along for the ride.

Quirky, socially dysfunctional genius detective. Assistant who keeps him grounded in life. Hmmmm. A more stylish, high budget knock-off of "Monk". They should just use those old scripts and fire most of the writers. hahaha

This show seems rather redundant to me especially when you have "Sherlock" on PBS. "Elementary" only makes sense if you have never seen Sherlock Holmes on public television. The series' success proves to me that there are more people than I thought who fall into that category.

I know they are trying to make Kitty a sympathetic character but she is annoying and a distraction. It is Watson and Holmes, not Watson, Holmes and Poor Kitty.

Earlier this season Johnny Lee Miller has taken the Sherlock's eccentricity too far. When he stood in place and carried on a conversation, it was painful to watch. Too impatient, too jerky, too angry, too condescending. Either one or both hands were always in his pockets and his body bent out of shape in an unnatural way. Getting back to basics of acting so well put by Stanislavsky "I do not believe you!"
If was trying to convey insecurity or excitement, there are less grotesque ways to show it. The only time I saw jerky movements like that, was when Michael J. Fox was trying to hide his Parkinsons in the early days of it...
He seems to be more relaxed in later episodes of Fall/Winter 2014.

Please get back on track with Holmes and Watson. Kitty is an annoying distraction. Cannot watch her. Bad idea and poor writing. Wrecking the show.

The introduction of the new character has caused the show to lose its direction, but I will continue to watch because of Lucy Liu.

As I have said before the mucky mucks have ruined the show. Really a shame to mess with a good thing.

They are killing the show. Just watched the third week and am very disappointed. Are they trying to get rid of Watson?? trying to reduce the budget?? the show has lost it's magic. If they keep on this path it will be the last season. I am bummed out. Lucy liu is what interested me in the show. Sherlock can go away, give her a show on her own

I really dislike the 'Kitty' character that was added in season 3 to replace Watson as Holmes' sidekick. I love Watson and Holmes together. Writers - why did you mess with a good thing?

By not starting the series in September when so many shows start Elementary is now struggling to get decent ratings. It is so low I am shocked, why do networks mess with a good thing. I have seen to many excellent shows get canceled due to no advertising and the time slot it is put in. The networks need a complete overhaul starting with the mucky muck high officials in all networks.
