TV's longest-running comedy surpasses the quarter-century mark.

FOX announced today that The Simpsons has been renewed for a 26th season, extending the animated comedy's run past the quarter-century mark. On the air since 1989, the show also holds the distinction of being television's longest-running prime time scripted series in history.
UPDATE: Season 26 of The Simpsons will premiere on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 8:00pm.

I have not watched the Simpsons in 20 years. I had no idea it was even still on tv. With all the excellent programming on cable on Sunday nights, who has time for this garbage?

It has some funny moments. Last weeks episode was a spoof of Homeland.

Seriously, kill it already. It's only kept alive because the voice talent doesn't want to find other work.
