Set in the town of Springfield, this animated sitcom features the antics and adventures of the Simpson family.

Originally created by cartoonist Matt Groening, The Simpsons has graced the small screen for over 30 years. The Simpson family first appeared on television as the subjects of interstitial "shorts" on The Tracey Ullman Show in April of 1987.

It was two years later when they premiered their own half-hour series on December 17, 1989. With the help of Jim Brooks and Sam Simon, Matt Groening's cartoon family turned into an instant success.

Since the beginning, the series has been a pop culture icon, attracting hundreds of celebrities to guest star. The show has also made name for itself in its fearless satirical take on politics, media and American life in general.

The Simpsons has over 700 episodes under its belt, with over 20 Emmy Awards, a handful of music albums, and countless merchandise. They even put out The Simpsons Movie in the summer of 2007.

Formerly a good show but lately has had too much of a Sneed agenda.

I have loved watching the Simpsons since 1989 when it premiered, and even before when it was just sketches. That said, there has been a steady decline in the quality of episodes. Specifically, the episodes just 'end' without a real ending. Anymore, it seems to be a drama about the "Days of The Simpsons" -- rather than a comedy. If I had my choice, I would sooner have American Dad back on Sunday night in place of Simpsons (instead on TBS). I think The Cleveland Show had more potential than Simpsons has now. They are just churning out scripts and not comedy. It didn't have to be edgy, but it isn't funny or satirical anymore. It is just a show... and I ask, "What's the point?"

This series was never that great. About 1 in 10 episodes are worth watching, if you have nothing better to do.

Even though "The Simpsons" had a good 25th season, I don't expect it to last much longer. A few times in the past few seasons, the show has come close to where it was in the 1990's into the middle to late 2000's in terms of episode quality; the quality started dropping off towards the end of the 2000's into the 2nd decade of the 21st century. From time to time, the show's writers come up with a great script. With that being said, I would not be surprised if Season 26 turned out to be the last one for "The Simpsons".
