There will be no season 4 for the crime drama.
August 28, 2014
A&E has cancelled Longmire after three seasons on the air. Premiering in 2012, the crime drama went on to become the cable network's most-watched original drama ever, amassing a sizable and loyal fanbase.
While its third-season ratings were down from previous years, it is not clear if that was the reason for the show's cancellation. It is being reported that its production company, Warner Horizon, will be shopping the series to other networks.

My wife has watched this from the beginning and recently got me hooked . I spent the last month catching up on the past 3 suspenseful seasons. A&E used to be a cut above the rest of the networks and the original programs were some of the best on the tube. With most of networks going to (non)-reality TV, A&E has now become their own worst enemy. They too are now airing programs that a lot of us pose the question...Who watches this crap???? Put quality shows back on TV. I am now ready for Season 4 of LONGMIRE.

I heard that it was only older folks who watched this show somewhere on another site, but I'm 28, and my brothers and I all watched Longmire religiously. It was one of the best shows on TV. PLEASE! Someone pick this show up.

Really! A&E didn't think Longmire was worth keeping! Unbelievable! Longmire was one of the best crime series of ANY network. The last 2 episodes of this season made me look forward to next season.
What a shame! A&E executives have a hard time recognizing good programming.

Well I watched quite a bit of A&E, but. No more. Most network tv is pure crap. Gilligan's Island has more drama and better writing than most of them. IF 5.6 million of us aren't worth keeping a show to heck with them. I won't be watching their parent company either. Nor will. I be making purchases from their scumbag advertisers.

Have to wonder why the better shows get cancelled. It was one of the few shows I was looking forward to watching again. Hope they find a new network for it and promo it well.

Seriously! This channel gets rid of every good show and crams in yet more brainless reality shows. I loved Glades and Longmire & I'm not the only one. Many of my friends and acquaintances waited for each new season. I hate how the network leaves us hanging with a cliff hanger ending then cancel the next season and never resolve anything! They should be cancelled!

Of course T&E?, Trash & Entertainment? (fka A&E) is trying to back pedal. Insulting their audience: apathetic to our wishes, and intelligence by giving such insulting viewing options. I've read they have had a flood of complaints. They even had to hire new operators to the take a flood of calls. Another website indicated this could be their worst PR problem. Ahhhh (*sniff, sniff*) I hope they fall flat on their greedy behinds. See what they say below:
“The issue with Longmire is more about the ownership than the age of the audience.†A&E declared. The studio model is broken and networks just aren't able to monetize series that underperform in the key demos advertisers covet if they don't own a piece of it.
Google it for verification. (Allow for my typos)
It still comes out to: we want to get rich and could care less how we do it. Firstly, I believe A&E set up Longmire for failure. They offered few episodes, was given a terrible time slot, and gave little promotion; I think they made up their minds about Longmire long before August.
So know our voices are being heard but not considered by T&E? But if one thing we Longmire fans have learned, don't give without trying. So don't stop voicing your opinion. I have never hoped so strongly that a wrongly-canceled show will continue – only on a network that actually appreciates and supports the gem they acquired. I feel this has become an issue, on so many levels that we should not sit idly by.

Very disappointing news. I tell everyone about this show (and Tyrant). Hopefully another Network or Netflix-anyone will see the value of keeping it going. Remember what happened to The Killing?

Cancelling Longmire? WTH?!!! Why are stations cancelling quality shows and leaving these reality bombs on TV? Just don't get it. Longmire is a great series, good storyline, loads of possibilities for future seasons and wonderful acting. Buy a vowel A&E!

I am in agreement with the majority of the previous comments! I was heartbroken when A&E canceled "The Glades". My sister and I and many, many friends are totally devastated by the cancellation of "Longmire". As stated by the others, I do not watch the mindless "reality" shows. In fact. I have never viewed one in it's entirety. I did, however, watch every episode of "The Glades" and "Longmire" and even watched them if they played a 2nd time while using my dvr to watch them again on another day! A&E: I hope you enjoy whatever audience you are targeting. I, apparently, am not one of them and I won't miss having to check your listings.
