The anthology series gets two more seasons.
January 12, 2017
FX announced today that American Horror Story has been renewed for Seasons 8 and 9. The two-season pickup comes just three months after the series was renewed for a seventh season and two months following its sixth-season finale, ensuring fans of the show have at least three new cycles to look forward to over the coming years.
The horror anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk has continued to captivate audiences with each new installment, garnering some of the cable network's top ratings year after year. The franchise as a whole has also received its share of critical acclaim, with a total of 15 Emmy Awards to its name.
If American Horror Story keeps to its pace of airing one season each year, expect Seasons 7, 8, and 9 to arrive in 2017, 2018, and 2019 respectively.

I have really been disappointed for the past several seasons, I think if they get back to the ghost stories they can make them more scary, more heart pounding dramas, the gory mess is old.

Hell yeah!!!! Superb show, even though the last 2 seasons haven't been as good but it still beats most of the garbage thats on nowadays.

Show has been awful for a while now. I quit watching during Freak Show and based on reviews it sounds like the show has continued to be garbage since then. I don't know why this show would continue to get renewed year after year. FX can do much better.

TV has "reality" shows for when a terrible show is needed. In Movies, especially horror & sci-fi, is the so-called "Found Footage" genre. For both industries, these are the bottom of their respective manure piles.
This last season of AHS managed to merge theses two crappy formats into one large turd. Good news for AHS "FREAKSHOW" you're no longer the bottom of the pile season for this series.
We have enjoyed this series from the beginning and will for give them if they'll give more of the quality they've offered in the past.

Great news! Loved this last season (Roanoke) - it was definitely one of their best. It departed a little from the formula they had been using, but I was definitely impressed, especially how it switched gears mid-season..... Hope they keep their main players....

I agree with Steven and Raylan about this past season being stale/dreadful to watch. I almost quit watching it too, BUT I was a faithful viewer and at the finale' I thought "WTH...I should have quit watching it". My favorite season was with the witches. Loved watching Emma Roberts do her thing!

I'm pretty surprised to see this show get an order for three full seasons (including the renewal for season 7 back in October). This past season, in my opinion, was pretty dang stale about 80% of the time. The person I usually watch the show with shared my opinion. There was one point we almost quit watching it. Iirc it was right before the episode where they introduced the arc with the show runners starting to make the "second season". I really hope they can find some fresh blood for the writers room or something. The formula they've used for the last six seasons is starting to wear a bit thin.

I'm not sure who these people that can actually sit through this train wreck are. Last year was dreadful. Gave up on this year after three or four episodes because it was slowly losing steam.
Are they giving them three more chances to make a passable season people can actually sit through ?
