FX announced this morning that American Horror Story has been renewed for a fifth installment. The news comes days after its most-recent premiere set a record as the most-watched telecast in the network's history.
FX has ordered 13 episodes for the series' next installment, which will premiere in October 2015. The current season, American Horror Story: Freak Show, is currently airing Wednesdays through January.

By bringing in that wretched Lady Gaga, you've as much as canceled the show for me, FX. It's sad too, I love Tyrant and The Strain, and my wife and I got some enjoyment from this one, even as dark as it can be. You've really let me down by this new casting decision. Fans of Lady Gaga, please don't be offended. Just learn how to have decent taste in music and idols. lol

In my opinion, ASYLUM, COVEN, MURDER HOUSE, AND FREAK SHOW... in that order. A close race between Asylum & Coven, Murder House safely in third, and Freak Show the worst effort so far. Looking forward to HOTEL, I've seen the trailers and background video on the Hotel inspiring next season and it looks to have great potential. Hopefully their HOTEL won't suffer like 666 Park Ave (Which I really liked)

NEVER EVEN CONSIDER IT BEING CANCELED!!! Freak Show wasn't my fav season, BUT, I still never missed and have every season on Bluray. Waiting on Freak release now.

is it me, but each season is getting less SCARE. Next year go with a western - Reno or New Mexico "White Sands Missile Range" site or McCarthy, AK crime scene

There's a ton of scenarios they can still do. As long as the stories are creative and work the television formula of 13 or so episodes they keep going forward. I think some scenarios will be hard to stretch out over a full season like a saw style situation or home invasion story.

I think they should do a "summer camp of horrors" season a la Friday the 13th/Sleepaway Camp/et. al. Kathy Bates as the cook, Sarah Paulson as the owner, Evan and Taissa as counselors.... It could work.

One of my favorite shows but they're bound to be running out of ideas. They've done classic haunted house, insane asylum, witches, and now circus freak show. All I can really think of in the "classic" horror sense is some kind of a Manson-esque cult. PS to the producers- if you use that, I want an exec producer credit. LOL.
