TNT wants more of The Librarians. Two days after wrapping up its third-season finale, it was announced today that the movie-based series has been renewed for a fourth season.
The adventure drama premiered on the cable network in 2014 as an expansion of its hit movie franchise, following an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library whose members dedicate their lives to protecting the world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around.
The Librarians has been a solid performer over the course of its run, ranking as one of TNT's top-rated and most-watched series. The show is also among the top 20 basic cable dramas in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Look for Season 4 of The Librarians later this year.

It is similar to Warehouse 13 but still different. The Librarians is more overt with the immortals whereas it was always just a theory with Mrs. Frederick, et al.It is highly entertaining if you ignore some of the inaccuracies of mythology that the writers have tweaked for simplicity. It's meant to be funny and like Bonkers said "...it[the show] doesn't take itself so seriously." I bought the last three seasons on DVD, as well as the four movies. TBH, Noah and Christian are easy on the eyes ;).

This show is wonderful. I am glad it's coming back. And everyone is right. This show did borrow from "friday the 13th' the series. which was on tv from 1987-1990. It was a spin off from the movie series. The three characters would collect cursed objects. Jason's mask would be one such item. Although they never did do that episode. Instead one character from the show did appear in the 1993 'jasons dead' film. The first libarian film, came fourteen years after that show and wharehouse 13. 19 years after it.

Suzanne: On IMBD, Friday the 13th the Series is searchable as Friday's Curse.
There were 3 seasons that were released on DVD. Check the local library, that's where I found it to rent.
SyFy used to show re-runs (usually on Friday the 13th). Chiller ran it a while back, but that's the last time I saw it on TV.

KM: Thanks. I only tried Netflix DVD and IMDB, and I struck out. I'm embarrassed to admit the rest of those never even occurred to me. I'll try imdb again as well as the rest of those sites now.

Suzanne, You can search for "Friday the 13th the series" on Google and find the Wikipedia page and the IMDB page. They do a good job explaining the premise. You can also find the DVDs on Amazon and promos on YouTube.

KM: What is Friday the 13th the series and is it available anywhere? I can only find references to the horror series of movies. @tmo gibson: I liked Warehouse 13 better though I have seen all the movies/episodes of The Librarian, and I really loved the first movie. The series feels like it has lost something along the way. That said, I like it enough to be glad they renewed it. There don't seem to be many silly (for lack of a better word) SciFi/fantasy shows on the air. I really miss Eureka which fits right in with these shows.

Tom Gibson, The Librarians TV series is a spin-off of the made-for-TV movie series "The Librarian". The first movie was called "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear" and it came out in 2004, 5 years before Warehouse 13. So, which was the predecessor? :) Warehouse 13 borrowed a lot of it's premise from "Friday the 13th: The Series". I have enjoyed all three series.

Sounds a lot like Warehouse 13. Is it as enjoyable as it's predecessor?

Love the show and particularly love the fact that it doesnt take itself so seriously. Reminds me a lot of old-school Dr.Who where the bad guys armor was clearly made out of styrofoam and cardboard... and no on cared... Part of me hopes theyll clean up the writting some next season, but part of me hopes not... guilty pleasure...
