No Season 5 for the cable drama.

Word is out this evening that TNT has cancelled The Librarians after four seasons. Showrunner Dean Devlin took to Twitter with the news, posting that he will be attempting to find a new home for the movie-based series. The show aired its final episode just last month.
The adventure drama premiered on the cable network in 2014 as an expansion of its hit movie franchise, following an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library whose members dedicate their lives to protecting the world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around.
The reason for today's cancellation is unclear, as The Librarians was a solid performer for the cable network over the course of its run. It was however, one of the last series still on the air from before Kevin Reilly became president of TNT. Since his arrival, Reilly has been taking the network's original programming in a different, more edgy, direction.
Just got the official call. TNT has cancelled #TheLibrarians - I will immediately begin the process of trying to move the show elsewhere. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

Agreed. A new set of writers. maybe introduce another character or two. look how long MASH lasted.and wimpy shows like Love Boat and Fantasy IslandMaybe too many people thought the Colonel was unlikely. Having spent 10 years in the Armed Forces a woman Colonel in a special forces role is eminently believable.
And "Mafic" was merely a different way to express or name the unseen terrors of life in the 21st Century. Global Warming. Mass extinctions of animals.Huge natural disasters.

I loved this show from the start, and the movies before that. So yeah, i hope like hell they find a new home! ScyFy or Comet come to mind.Seems every time they screw up and cancell good stuff and leave the crap.Maybe AMC even.they get some stuff from across the spectrum and dont usually cancell quickly. Reminds me of when Carnivale was cancelled. There was talk of organizing a march on Washington. That was a hell of a good show. If you ever daw it you will immediately spot my little word joke.
Somebody could even run a season in repeats while new shows are in production. luckily i saved last season on ny dvr.

Seriously!?!?!? TNT network sucks! This is a great show. It beats stupid reality shows into the ground. It has mystery, adventure, suspense and Comedy. No.... people want to watch crappy reality television- people that have the brain the size of pea! TNT you suck! I hope this show will get picked up by another network. This needs to finish out.

The librarians is a great *entertaining* show (that word is important, TNT!) and I really hope Devlin finds a place for it. Short sighted networks that dump shows because they don't fit in with the vision despite them pulling in good figures just deserve to fail.

It was time, although I have to say last season was better than the previous one. The series plot line was starting to wander, and it was becoming too easy to invent the "artifact of the week". The same thing happened to "Warehouse 13" on SyFy.

I'm incredibly sad to read this news. This was a fun and clever show and definitely deserved to go on to a fifth season. Hopefully it gets picked up by another network.

Yep, last show watched on TNT. Don’t like the network’s new direction. Shame. Great show to watch with all family members. Always sparked some kind of follow up search. Like Warehouse 13 before it, fun with a smart edge to oi.
