The crime procedural will be back in 2017-2018.
April 7, 2017
Word is out that CBS has renewed Criminal Minds for a 13th season. The veteran procedural drama continues to be one of the stronger entries in the eye network's lineup despite the recent departures of several cast members. The show currently averages over 10 million Live+same day viewers and ranks in the Top 5 dramas on the network among adults 18-49.
While Criminal Minds has stood the test of time, its spin-offs have yet to prove their lasting power. 2011's Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior was short-lived, and the more-recent Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders is still awaiting news of a third season pickup.

Still one of my favorites. I don't miss Hotch at all. He was so stiff and impersonal that he was just there to disseminate info. I'll take the current team any day. Plus, a visit from Morgan on the finale is a little treat.
And I love the Reid storyline. It's interesting to see how differently each person is affected by it.

I LOVE the prison storyline, I haven't enjoyed CM this much in awhile... it would be ALOT better if we had Morgan and Hotch in it but either way I'm very much enjoying this

I couldn't stand Morgan so when he left, it really didn't bother me. Hotch on the other hand was a different story. Although I understand why they did it, the show lost its luster for me at that point. I kept watching but have to say I'm truly surprised they are renewing it. It just isn't the same and agree that it's time for it to end.

Trevor the only one I see whining is you.
This show should end its time. After 3 of the series originals left I did too. Not for the characters but because it got boring and tedious. So RIP CM it's obvious this season is just to end it for 13 season viewers that will be upset if it suddenly was cancelled with all the time they invested or wasted more like it.

The prison storyline is the greatest arc CM's has ever had, good job writers, those who hate the storyline, only hates it because they can't have their Derek Morgan, get over it. I watch the show, not the characters, two characters don't make the show, that's so stupid to think that. I am loyal to the show and wish the whiners would shut up already, Grow Up.

With both Morgan and Hotch gone it just isn't the same. Since the beginning of last season 3 new cast members have joined and they're all boring. Especially the newest guy. It also seems like Ried is on his way out and if that happens I'm done. I'm already annoyed with this prison story.

Let's hope season 13 will be better than season 12. I don't really mind the departures of Hotch and Derek, but the storyline around Spence has been really boring for months.

I quit watching this on season 7. Too much drama with their personal lives. It seems like a soap opera.

Though I fully appreciated the accuracy and humor of ted's comment, I like this show and want it to continue. I need some procedurals that don't require me to follow season long threads. As for Thomas Gibson, it is Shemar Moore that I miss and his character's relationship to "baby girl." I'm very glad they didn't try to replicate it with someone else.

YAAY. Don't care about the whiners, I still love CM without Thomas.
