No Season 2 for the time travel drama.

It is being reported that NBC has cancelled Timeless after its first season. This is sad news for fans of the show, as its final episode in February left with a cliffhanger that will now go unanswered.
The action drama premiered last fall as part of the network's fall line-up with a lot of momentum behind it. The show was created by two veteran producers, had a high profile time slot airing after The Voice on Monday nights, was heavily promoted, and received high critical praise from early reviews. While its premiere episode got off to a solid start, ratings slipped in subsequent weeks leaving only a limited audience who kept tuning in.
Signs the show was in trouble started to become apparent early on. When NBC added additional episodes to the show's freshman run, only three were ordered. Co-creator Eric Kripke also cautioned fans on his Twitter page, writing that its live viewer ratings likely needed to improve to warrant another season.
Timeless followed a team of time travelers who were chasing down a mysterious criminal intent on changing the past in order to destroy America. The team worked to keep up with the dangerous fugitive to stop his path of destruction, while being careful not to let their actions adversely affect the past.

the character of Malcolm Barrett (Rufus) was one of the worst I have ever seen. made me as a fellow black guy angry af.
When they know it might not be brought back, as you said, and end it on a cliffhanger it is because they care more about fighting a network than giving the viewers a show. NBC could not have dropped the ball. They basically said " We might not give the show another season we will give you 3 more episodes to wrap up the season" The creators responded with a cliffhanger. A CREATOR THAT DOES NOT HATE
ITS FANS WILL NOT USE A CLIFFHANGER WITHOUT A NEXT SEASON GUARANTEED. OTHERWISE THEY ARE CREATING THE POSSIBILITY OF THE SHOW ENDING WITH A CLIFFHANGER. THE NETWORK DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE ANY MORE EPISODES BECAUSE THE CREATORS CREATED A CLIFFHANGER.
To EVERYONE ELSE: NBC's new show is actually Chicago: Show that attracts viewers and makes money not loses it. It is part of their new campaign: How to stay a network and not go the way of Pax, WB, UPN, or Dumont.

@George- Yes, the show did provide the 3 extra episodes that NBC asked for. However, NBC did not renew. It has nothing to do with the cliffhanger. Nashville decided to use the same tactic and ended their season with a cliffhanger, knowing it was possibly their last and it was- with that network. The choice to end with a cliffhanger was done in hopes that NBC would bring them back to finish what was started. NBC dropped the ball here.
