No Season 4 for the devilish drama.
May 11, 2018
Days before its third-season finale, Fox has cancelled Lucifer. Star Tom Ellis broke the news this afternoon on his Twitter acccount with a message expressing his sadness to fans. The comics-based drama was a decent performer for the network over a good portion of its time on the air, though ratings were hitting series lows this time around.
The hour-long series follows Lucifer Morningstar, who has retired to Los Angeles from his duties as The Devil to indulge in a more carefree lifestyle. That is, until, he finds a new purpose in life and starts working alongside a homicide detective to solve crime and dispense justice.
Lucifer premiered early in 2016 as a mid-season entry, where it exceeded expectations to become Fox's 2nd-highest rated new series of the season. Its strong showing among viewers and critics prompted the network to shift the show to its regular fall lineup for season 2, but its momentum started slowing when it returned later that year.
The series finale of Lucifer will air on May 14.

Ridiculous! Why do networks always cancel great shows?!? This is a great show... hopefully another network will try to get it. ABC and FOX are both canceling shows left and right while shows like Grays Anatomy are on season 1 mil... why?

And FOX left "Lucifur" cancelled on the mother of all cliffhangers tonight. Thanks for nothing FOX.

Unless Fox created the show it is the show itself that left on a cliffhanger. I have seen no announcement of a renewal for this. That means the creators created a cliffhanger knowing it might not be resolved. The were trying to hold the fans as hostages for another season. If you blame the network for a cliffhanger you have is Stockholm Syndrome.

Hey FOX!!! You keep canceling shows that end with no resolve to the series regular viewers! I am not just talking about "Lucifer", it seems to apply to all your canelations. So please give closure to shows that viewers (no matter how few) have been watching your shows.

I don't watch a lot of night time television but this is one show never miss. Another bad choice by whatever 10 year old who is running Fox.

They cancel this but bring back Last man standing. I can not watch Fox any more. I will not support a network that is that dumb.

A have to agree with Angelus. This show started off brilliantly, but season 3 has been a disaster. Chloe has gone from seasoned Detective to infatuated teenager. Maze was a badass demon, but now just whines about wanting to go home. Lucifer went from being cool and charismatic to being an unpleasant emotional wreck with bipolar disorder. Ella went from being the cool, smart CSI to some sort of nympho who lusts after Pierce. Trixie almost doesn't exist in the show anymore, and the same with the Doc. No offense to the actor who plays him, but Pierce/Cain character flat sucks, and love triangles are a dull cliche. What happened to the great characters and clever writing from season 1 & 2?
