No Season 3 for the time travel drama.
June 22, 2018
It's a sad day for the #Clockblockers out there, as NBC has once again cancelled Timeless. The move marks the second straight year that the network has pulled the plug on the series, only this time there will be no reversal of its decision.
Fans of the action drama had been holding out hope since last month's finale that a third season may be in the cards. And like last year, the show ended on another major cliffhanger that might not ever be resolved. I say 'might' because there have reportedly been discussions between NBC and the show's producers about a possible two-hour movie that would properly conclude the story and give fans the closure they undoubtedly would appreciate. Talks are still ongoing, but the likelihood of it actually happening is unknown.
Timeless premiered in 2016 with a good amount of momentum behind it. Created by two veteran producers, the series was given a high profile time slot on Monday nights along with heavy promotion. While it was well-received by critics, a solid start in the ratings was not long-lasting, and ratings slipped over the course of its run leaving only a limited audience who kept tuning in. And while NBC eventually decided to bring the show back for a second season, its numbers only got worse this time around.
Timeless follows a team of time travelers who were chasing down a mysterious criminal intent on changing the past in order to destroy America. The team works to keep up with the dangerous fugitive to stop his path of destruction, while being careful not to let their actions adversely affect the past.
I'd be nihilistic if it mattered

Commercial television is the worst. I refuse to be bombarded with advertisements every 5 minutes. 1 hour shows are ACTUALLY 37-40 minutes long... 30 minute shows actually 19-21 minutes long.. that's way too much advertising when it encompasses 1/3 of the program. I can't see how networks will survive when DVRs and steaming services eliminate the obtrusive, loud, unwanted advertising.... networks are really reminding me of the Music Industry when Napster came along.... No wonder their shows fail to garner an audience or be noted by most of the public... the commercials suck, regardless of how good a show may be.

No one wants a show with such a big cult following?

I visited a relative coming to the end of the season and when I watched the episodes they would watch it with me, granted they had no clue what the show was about. Then after the last episode she binged the first season and was set for the second. So sad the show ended. I really enjoyed it.

OMG!!! I love this show and to be canceled again!! I am a clockbuster and I have been begging for this to come back as have all the clockbusters. We were left with a huge cliffhanger. I agree with others, this was an original show. We have a billion cop and medical shows that get renewed but something like this can't be renewed. NO! So stupid! There better be a movie to at least we get closure.

I like Timeless a lot but I'm not willing to watch commercials on any show. However, I would tune another TV in the house onto the direct broadcast of a show if it would fool the networks and advertisers into thinking that I am actually watching the show in real time. Although it sounds like just a theory that DVR'd shows don't contribute to the share of audiences being counted for ratings.

I DVR everything. Haven't watch live or commercials for over 10 years.

2nd season was poor but it doesn't alter the fact it is a good idea not original but with better storylines could work lets hope it gets rescued

It’s sad cause this is such a fun show with great chemistry between the cast members. And yet today, AMC renews The Terror which had half, if not less, the ratings of Timeless. And if Timeless was on the CW or similar station it would be the highest rated show on the network. But NBC would rather pump more $$ into Reverie which will not last either. Take the Reverie money and put it to Timeless and move it off the Sunday night time slot where is hasnto go up against Billions, Westworld, and other premium shows. No way NBC wanted this show to succeed putting it in that time slot. Too bad. It was a truly fun show.

Season 2 was nowhere near as good as season 1. The Jessica plot was the most predictable in TV history. Still, I probably would have watched Season 3.
