The drama will return for a second season.
October 15, 2018
FX has picked up Australian drama Mr Inbetween for Season 2. The good news comes on the heels of a successful freshman run that aired six episodes over the course of just three weeks.
Reception was overall positive across the board, with both audiences and critics singing its praises. Across the cable network's linear and non-linear platforms, the series averaged over 2 million viewers.
Mr Inbetween follows Ray Shoesmith, a divorced father with anger issues. He does his best to raise his daughter while having a personal life, all while working as a criminal-for-hire.
Look for Season 2 in 2019.

STEVE S! Don't discuss - produce facts when conversing with morons! Well done!
Apart from that - over the moon that this hilarious quality show got renewed. I literally wept when I discovered the first season only had 6 episodes...

Grab some crisps, pop open a can of Carlton Draught, and grab some chewies for afterward....without a doubt one of the best shows and certainly worthy of a full season, and then some....love the writing, the performances, and he provides one of the most heartfelt anti-heroes...cannot wait to see more!

This is inspired by the nameless moron that said my comparision (involving Louie and Mr Inbetween) is "totally insane ... Mr. Inbetween is not anywhere even in the same universe as 'Louie' was. Not in mood, acting ability, storyline, premise... nothing is similar."
What I did was compare just one element (how the two are different, not the same) and then go on to explain that I brought up Louie because maybe Mr Inbetween would be like Louie (for me) in that it didn't initially strike me as funny. I did not compare "mood, acting ability, storyline, premise" or write that Mr Inbetween is similar to Louie. But let us look for similarities in these things that Mr Idiot bluntly compared: Mood: Both Ray and Louie are often somber and quiet; Acting Ability: both shows are equivalent in acting ability (idiot was wrong); Storyline: later below (some things are exactly the same); Premise: both are about the life of a degenerate.
All of the following are true of both Louie and Mr Inbetween:
It's a half-hour dark comedy on the FX channel entirely about the life of a degenerate man; he's impish unimposing laconic baldish mustached goateed 40ish divorced from an interracial marriage; dates darkhaired woman; father of young girl(s); has one brother; wears collared black dark loose clothing; grubby middle class surroundings; walking on street scenes; pizza; treats daughter to ice cream; a nihilist, but there are discussions concerning morality, the world is filled with jerks.
Finally, the WRITER and PRODUCER in both are the stars themselves: Louis CK and Scott Ryan.
The idiot seems to have one thing right (congratulations!): Louis CK is also a degenerate in real life. I know nothing about Scott Ryan beyond his Mr Inbetween creation - which is looking good so far!

fun show. good anti-hero. half hour format is perfect, no having to fill an hour with side character subplots. everything revolves around Mr. I-B.

Louie CK apparently exposed MORE than just his "foibles".
And the caparison is totally insane in my opinion. Mr. Inbetween is not anywhere even in the same universe as "Louie" was. Not in mood, acting ability, storyline, premise... nothing is similar.
If anything, a comparison may be possibly made with Get Shorty, both the film and the Epix TV show. Both good shows if you ask me though.

The hero is a degenerate, but it’s not down to earth like, say, Louie was. Louie was largely funny because he knew how to exploit real thoughts, he exposed them in hilarious ways. Ray’s thoughts might be real, in a way, but the premise is too over-the-top to relate it with any reality - basically murdering someone regularly to solve a problem.
I’ve maybe watched an hour, but I brought up Louie for a reason. Initially, I didn’t care much for Louie, it was only about him and his foibles, and not all was that funny. After a while, I got to appreciate the humor. I think I could be seeing a lot of the same in “Rayie” (Mr Inbetween). The discussion with his daughter that included the unicorn was not really funny, as it was supposed to be, but the juxtaposition of killing someone (who happened to be innocent of the alleged breach) and being a loving parent of a small child was effective.
I’m unsure of this series but the positive reviews indicate I maybe become sure. It may depend on how funny it’s supposed to be, andif it really is.

Great show. Shows the life of an Aussie Hoon. Wife thinks I'm disturbed because I was laughing so hard when wallops those who need it. He speaks the truth, the reason people are disrespectful is because we allow it. Have a cuppa and enjoy the show

I haven't watched this one yet but I am looking forward to it. I mostly just watch foreign shows on Netflix and Hulu and they tend to be far superior. They also have shorter seasons, which I love! Less filler episodes and more substance. This one definitely looked good from the previews and it sounds like audiences liked it as well.
