The new comedy adds more episodes.

CBS is sticking with The Neighborhood. The network has reportedly issued a back-nine order for the new comedy, bringing its count up to 22 - a full season's worth. The good news comes after a solid start to its freshman run.
Airing Monday nights at 8:00pm, the half-hour series has held its own in the ratings department since its early October premiere. Each week so far, it has come in second in its time slot behind only long-running powerhouse The Voice. Reviews though, have been decidedly mixed at this point.
The Neighborhood follows a friendly Midwest family who has just moved in to a tough Los Angeles neighborhood, but not all of its residents appreciate their neighborly ways. Their new neighbor Calvin, played by Cedric the Entertainer, is particularly caught off-guard, worrying that his new neighbors will disrupt the culture on the block.

I'm white and I don't see how this show is racist. What people are not used to seeing is the storylines of a black couple being lead characters. I think they've done a good job of showing it justice, sometimes people don't like the truth. Like the line "i have more followers in a department store than I do on twitter", as a white person that's not something I have to go through but my friends of color do. The show has great actors so I will watch as long as it airs.

This show just is not funny. I never got more than a couple smiles in the first episode. I don't care what the theme is, that's death to any sitcom.

First of all the comment "Black people cannot be racist" was being said tongue in cheek (I have heard this said in real life) because everyone can be racist. Second of all the series is showing the reverse effect of someone of a different race coming into a neighborhood that is predominantly another race. The situations are being done for laughs but it is real. I am glad that they have backed off of the race thing a bit and are doing the sitcom thing. It's a comedy for laughs, not a documentary.
stupid show

This show seems really racist against white people. And guess what, that's not okay.

I'm thrilled that The Neighborhood got picked up. I had read so many negative things about it that I just didn't expect it. I have loved every episode despite the fact that other people just didn't seem to like it. I thought The Cool Kids was going to be my favorite new comedy this season, but after watching the second episode I have to change my opinion. The Neighborhood has risen to be my favorite new comedy this season.
I'm not a big fan of Max Greenfield, but even so I'm glad that they recast both Max and Beth Behrs. I have no idea what the original pilot was like, but I definitely like all of the actors that eventually got the jobs.
It was a very smart move to have the wives get along as well as they seem to. I find quite a bit of the dialogue interesting. One comment that I definitely had to question was when they said that black people can't be racist. My personal experience contradicts that statement.
Does anyone know how old Marcel Spears (Marty) and Sheaun McKinney (Malcolm) are? Or even how old their characters are? Just wondering...

pleasant surprise. Cedric plays the son of George Jefferson and Archie Bunker 4 decades later, only cuddlier. Max is funny, as are both families.

Color me surprised. even though it kind of turned out to be more watchable after that cringy pilot i think winning a battle doesn't necessarily mean winning the war. i don't see it coming back for a 2nd season.

Was really expecting horrible things here.. but the reality is this show is passable compared to other things on the air. It is sort of a modern-day reverse "All in the family" with "Archie Bunker" played by the black lead. But as always, it's apparently okay to be racist against white people (Yes. Black people CAN be racist - look up the definition). Still the show is okay.
