Tracy Morgan will star in the new half-hour comedy.
May 18, 2024
The universe of The Neighborhood is expanding. Paramount+ has ordered a new series that will be set in the world of the hit CBS comedy, which is heading into its seventh season.
Titled 'Crutch,' the half-hour sitcom will star Tracy Morgan as Francois "Frank" Crutchfield, a Harlem widower whose empty nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home.
"I'm excited to be expanding our 'The Neighborhood' universe, by producing a show with the legendary comedian Tracy Morgan," said Cedric The Entertainer. "This new character is the close cousin to my character Calvin Butler and you will enjoy some of their many similarities. Morgan plays Crutch a 'say-it-like-it-is' widowed father who is challenged when his two adult children and a couple of grandchildren need to move back home, and let's say there will be several comedic complications."
"Crutch will be navigating the ups and downs of having his kids and grandkids back under one roof, and you know if I am doing this, there will be plenty of laughs along the way," said Tracy Morgan. "I am so happy to be able to do this with my brother Cedric The Entertainer, Owen Smith and the rest of the amazing crew we have put together. Get ready for your new favorite show!"
'Crutch' is expected to start production later this year. No time frame for a premiere has been set.

Didn’t Tracy Morgan play Calvin’s rich brother in a previous episode? Why not make a spin-off with the same character?

Sorry John but one white family moving into a black neighborhood does not equal gentrification.

@ John: Thank you for the explanation of your perspective of the show. I don't see it that way, but I totally get what you are saying.

goeze , the whole show is based on a white family moving into a black neighborhood and they are not really welcomed... the white family appeases them and the father is constantly annoyed by the white husband their friendship feels forced ... if the roles were reversed this show would be deemed racist but its the white family that has intruded on the black neighborhood because the houses are cheaper there... technically this is gentrification...

I am a fan of the Neighborhood and I too want to know what makes this show "the most racist show" A Black and white family are neighbors and friends, how is this racist? Please elaborate for those of us asking. Thanks
BTW I don't find Tracy Morgan funny at all, he makes me cringe.

The Neighborhood is very funny. Tracey Morgan is not funny at all. Too bad.

Put your show on CBS and not Paramount+, AKA " Give us more money", maybe I would give it a shot. I am not paying more for a copycat sitcom. Too bad. The show may be good.
