The action series will continue into 2020.

ABC announced today that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been given an early pickup for a seventh season. The good news comes just six months after the drama was renewed for Season 6, which itself isn't due to air until 2019.
The veteran series premiered in 2013 and is the longest-running show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At over 100 episodes, its lengthy run has been impressive and looks to continue for at least the next couple of years. Like most shows of this age, its current ratings leave a lot to be desired, but its core audience still tunes in in decent enough numbers to keep it going in its Friday night time slot, where it moved last season from its regular Tuesday spot.
The network has ordered 13 episodes for Season 7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., matching its Season 6 order. The new shortened run format is down considerably from the 22 episodes the show aired in Seasons 1 through 5.

This show is past its prime. Creatively it's been all over the place between seasons. Characters come and go and it's hard to keep track unless you're a Marvel fan.
They recently switched to two major plot lines per season, each involving 8 or 9 episodes. Unfortunately that means if you don't happen to like one story you have to wait two or three months for it to change and hopefully get better.

Pretty sure it's the 2nd most watch show in the world behind Vikings. Huge world wide following is why they renewed it. I stopped watching around season 3 but will binge it on Netflix sometime to see why.

Totally love it. Hopefully they'll put the show on a night where it has a real chance to do well. One of my favorites on TV. Last two seasons have really been excellent. Glad for the early renewal but wish it was for a full season. Still happy.

Last season kinda dragged so I get the shorter episode count for season 6 and 7. I hope Coulson lives. I can't see 2 seasons without him. Maybe Thanos snap and the inevitable undoing of the snap saves him somehow. Question for all. If they find the frozen in space version of Fitz, are he and Simmons still married? That Fitz wouldn't have actually tied the knot yet. I say no.

I didn't even realize Agents of Shield hadn't yet been renewed until the recent announcement of it being renewed. I just thought it was renewed already. I'm glad for the cast & production personnel.
I must admit, I'd gotten a bit tired of the series, especially with the last two seasons and wouldn't have missed the series. I'd already cancelled my recordings of the DC-related "The Flash", "Arrow", and "Supergirl"; never even set-up "Black Lightning" for recording. These shows may be great. It could be just me losing interest.

Early pick ups always mean no faith in show. Probably will be cancelled after season 6.

Wow, this is a surprise, and a pleasant one. I was shocked with season 6 renewal, particularly after the way season 5 ended (no spoilers!). I think 13 episodes a year is perfect for this show, and I anxiously await for season 6 to start.

A Underrated show imo. It is consistantly good. so this is good news. I am surprised about the early pickup.

I kinda stopped after season 4… It's nice when I watch it, but I don't miss it when I don't.
