Dancing with the Stars will be returning for Season 28. But fans will have to wait a little longer than usual to get their next fix of celebrity ballroom action. It is being reported that the reality competition series will be skipping its spring cycle in 2019 for the first time.

While there has been no official announcement, host Tom Bergeron took to Twitter today with a "see you in September" message to his followers. While the reason for taking a cycle off is unknown, Bergeron also noted that they would "make sure it's worth the wait", perhaps alluding to a possible tinkering with the show's format after a controversial finish to Season 27 that saw underdog Bobby Bones take home the Mirrorball trophy.

ABC's former flagship series has remained a reliable performer after 13 years on the air, still often managing to best other unscripted competition in its time slot.
