ABC announced today that Dancing with the Stars has been picked up for a 29th season. The good news comes six months after the veteran competition series crowned its last champion.
A former flagship on the network, the series has remained a reliable performer after 15 years on the air, still often managing to best other unscripted competition in its time slot.
Look a return as part of the 2020-2021 season.

What a pity they’ve decided to have Tyra Banks host the show / be Executive Producer. Think getting rid of Tom and Erin a big shock.

I agree that I wish it wasn't a popularity contest. Having the judges chose the elimination from the bottom 2 helped a little. It is ridiculous to call most contestants celebrities, but I find that if the show does well with the weekly packages I start to care about them. This may not be a high quality program, but it is great family entertainment that we enjoy. Despite the ridicule (which I do understand) I hope DWTS keeps going for a while.

No thank you!! This is a popularity competition where you don't need to know how to dance just have a big fan base who votes for you.

The series is at a point where it all depends on the contestants. The best continue to amaze with how they improve over the season.
But without a good mix of contestants it has become perfunctory.

New season format... people dancing in their kitchen and filming it with a horribly cheap web cam... I mean.. isn't that the way all television is now moving??

This show will be on forever as reality shows are a permanent staple. At least could they make the best couple win instead of "diversity" winning?
