The 80s comedy will return this fall.
May 11, 2019
ABC announced today that The Goldbergs has been picked up for a seventh season. The good news comes exactly two years after the comedy's last renewal, which was a two-season order in 2017.
A consistently-reliable performer for the network, the series ranks as one of its highest rated comedies among adults 18-49. It even spawned 90s-set spin-off Schooled, which premiered earlier this year and was also renewed today for a sophomore run.
Loosely-based on the childhood of creator Adam F. Goldberg, The Goldbergs takes place in the 1980s and follows an overprotective mother, her hot-tempered husband, and their three kids, who are a handful to say the least. The show will surpass the 150-episode milestone next season.
Look for Season 7 of The Goldbergs to premiere this fall as part of ABC's 2019-2020 schedule.

I was in secondary school in the 80s ....so how much more stories are left in Adams life in the 80s ? Is this the final season ?
its been a ride though .... And funny ....

Iβll always be loyal to this show, even if itβs not as fresh as the earlier years. I few up in the 80s so I can relate so much and the show still cracks me up.

The creators said the show would end with Adam graduating high school. He technically finished his sophomore year (even though he was dating a senior? Nice!) because he was a freshman when Erica was a senior. So it makes sense that the renewal doesn't state it's the final season. But I agree with some of the other comments that the show is getting repetitive. If they don't get more interesting storylines they may not get their final season.

I used to watch this show, but I haven't watched any of this past season. It just kind of fell off my radar. I love the premise and the family is adorable. The show just got a bit monotonous.

The first couple of seasons were hilarious and the characters believable. But with Goldberg running out of material from his actual family too many times it just goes off the rails. Now maybe one out of three episodes is watchable.

A good show. Funny and the 80's are a good time to watch. Now , who would ever say this era is worth making a tv show about? They play video games a lot. Blah.

Sure this show runs hot and cold sometimes, but it's sweet, funny and I love seeing the real people the characters are based on. Barry needs to tone down his constant yelling, maybe he will now that he's off to college. I'm glad it got another season.

I love the show but it ruined the series schooled with Barry crossing over as the Dr. BARRY and Laney its odd.
