The veteran comedy will surpass 200 episodes in 2022.
May 14, 2021
ABC announced today that The Goldbergs has been picked up for a ninth season. The good news arrives ahead of the comedy's Season 8 finale next week.
A consistently-reliable performer for the network, the series ranks as one of its highest rated comedies among adults 18-49. It even spawned 90s-set spin-off 'Schooled', which ran for two seasons before being cancelled last year.
Loosely-based on the childhood of creator Adam F. Goldberg, The Goldbergs takes place in the 1980s and follows an overprotective mother, her hot-tempered husband, and their three kids, who are a handful to say the least.
Look for Season 9 of The Goldbergs to premiere this fall as part the 2021-2022 season, where it will surpass the 200-episode milestone - an impressive accomplishment for a live-action comedy these days.

Myself, I just love 22 min a week when I get to remember what it was like back then and see people that remember the stuff that was good and fun about the 80's almost 90's...The people that complain about anything on this show, just has too much free time on their hands and should go get a hobby! Love the Cast, Love the Writers, Love the whole thing! #Golbergs_20_Seasons_minimum

whatwhatwhat.. this show has ALWAYS been "remember that from the 80s". That is nothing new.. they pick a topic from the 80s.. a movie, a christmas toy, a car... and write around it. Now that they've exhausted most of that they've run out of the secondary ideas and they are CLEARLY searching for actual character plot lines.. but they've NEVER really had those. So.. now the real Goldberg has to write the same as he always has for his countless other failed tv ventures. i.e... it's just going downhill and they need to milk that cash cow as long as they can.

Great! I hope they bring back some of the staff from Schooled. They would be a good addition.

Iām glad the show was renewed but this needs to be the lastc season. The creators said they would end the show with Adam graduating high school and heās already a senior. The only way they could stretch it out is if they include the summer before he goes off to college. Not much story left to tell except for how the family will cope with the loss of Pops (George Segal). I also agree they are recycling way too many story lines.

I don't think you are

This is not a flame war. If I take my thirty minutes over to NBC young rock, are you satisfied?

segal was a great. The show should end before having to write out the cool grandfather's death. and lower case mike. yes! start the actual petition. are you for reals? a new wonder years? just wrong! kevin arnold is a producer now. And he and the mathematician Winnie only did it like once. The viewing public has fared better with covid and adderol. NO wonder years reboot.
And, excellent point. Close out the goldbergs. One of Segal's last works.

I gave up regularly watching in season 7. They should make this the final season and usher in those 90s

Eh. This show is long past it's prime. This season would have been a perfect ending with Adam graduating high school.
