The veteran comedy will continue its impressive run.
May 21, 2020
ABC announced today that The Goldbergs has been picked up for an eighth season. The good news arrives a week after the veteran comedy wrapped its most-recent run, which ended an episode earlier than planned due to the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.
A consistently-reliable performer for the network, the series ranks as one of its highest rated comedies among adults 18-49. It even spawned 90s-set spin-off Schooled, which ran for two seasons before being cancelled today.
Loosely-based on the childhood of creator Adam F. Goldberg, The Goldbergs takes place in the 1980s and follows an overprotective mother, her hot-tempered husband, and their three kids, who are a handful to say the least.
Look for Season 8 of The Goldbergs to premiere as part the 2020-2021 season.

I love this show. I love Beverly who never fails to make me laugh. Barry as well is hilarious. I agree with some comments that the show is reusing storylines (essentially every episode is concluded by a guilt trip and apology) but if it weren't for the few overwhelmingly fantastic characters, I don't think it would have lasted this long nor keep going.

Unless they decide to pull a "That's 70's Show" where the show took place over a 4 year period but lasted 8 seasons, this may very well be the final season as the creators said the show would end with Adam graduating high school. He was a junior this past season so at best they could get away with splitting his final school year over 2 seasons. I agree, the storylines are beginning to repeat so they need to find some way to invigorate the show or it will be cancelled before getting a proper ending.

Goldbergs is getting very stale, but we do keep watching though I don't find myself really looking fwd to it. The same is true for Modern Family so we still have several eps of both shows still to watch. Unless they manage to breathe new life into Goldbergs, I'd rather see it end before it circles the drain any longer.

It was brilliant in the first year when actual incidents and video from Adam F. Goldberg's life were used. But when he ran out of these more often than not it became schmaltzy. Sometimes it's just painful to watch.

it's run it's course.. .. pick a movie from the 80s.... that's what next week's episode will be based on. The formula is so readily apparent it's lazy.
