NBC announced today that Chicago P.D. has been renewed for three more seasons, taking it to at least Season 10. The spin-off series continues to be a strong performer in the network's primetime lineup along with its two franchise mates.
On the air since 2014, Chicago P.D. is the network's fourth-longest-running drama currently on the air. The first spin-off of the hit Chicago franchise, Chicago P.D. involves stories of the uniformed police patrol and intelligence unit that pursues the perpetrators of the Windy City's major street offenses.
Today's pickup is part of a new deal between Universal Television and Dick Wolf's Wolf Entertainment, which also earned multi-year renewals for Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med.

Oh how boring! Another three years of the same three plotlines: gang violence, dirty politicians, and scared informants. Over and over again. Yet shows like The Rookie, FBI, and FBI MW somehow manage to come up with original crime enforcement scripts almost every week. Chicago PD needs new writers. It shouldn't be rewarded with a three year contract. It should have to prove itself worthy of reinstatement every year.
