No Season 5 for the Matt LeBlanc comedy.
May 6, 2020
CBS announced its list of renewals today for the 2020-2021 season, and Man With A Plan did not make the cut. The comedy, now in its fourth season, is the only returning show that the network did not pick up.
The comedy premiered in 2016 as Matt LeBlanc's first return to network television since his career-making turn as Joey Tribbiani on Friends and its subsequent spin-off Joey. The show garnered fairly consistent ratings over the course of its run, but CBS switched things up in Season 3, shortening its episode count and moving it to the mid-season, where it remained for Season 4.
In Man With A Plan, LeBlanc plays as a married man with three young children. His work as a contractor has seen his wife taking on most of the child-rearing responsibilities, but when she decides to go back to work, he must adjust to his new role as a stay-at-home dad.

I'll tell you why it was cancelled; there are no gay characters. If you don't put gays in your show, it will not stay on the air.

The kids defocus was the error it could not recover from. Dawn is completely right, plus the writing went downhill fast.

I'm very sad to see this show go! This was a really great show with really great actors. I did notice a difference in the writing not being very good, shame, the actors were great but the writers were not!!!

Hope they reconsider, this is a great comedy. A throw back to the comedies of the 1960s and 1970s. Clean humor with a cast that seems like they could be your neighbor not what you see on all the most other sitcoms.
With this cancellation it is bringing me closer to cutting cable as I watch YouTube and streaming more and more. I watch very little on the networks because of its poor quality of writing.
CBS - PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS CANCELLATION!! (copied as I couldn't say it any better)

My husband, Mom and I love this show! The cast and stories lines were great and we found every episode funny. Surprised that CBS isn't keeping MWAP and think they are making a bad decision. It's so sad that great TV like this get canceled but Survivor gets renewed. At least CBS kept The Neighborhood! Sorry for your bad luck, Man With a Plan, you will be missed! :(

.. at the very least they should have cast a wife that doesn't need to wear a "smock" 99.9% of the time.... a black smock.... every darn scene....

This show would have lasted a decade if they cast one female that most men found attractive. Seems the casting director and producers forgot the golden rule of sitcom families... dumpy guy, hot wife.

Todd bad. I loved this show. And “Lowell” was hilarious. Hope he gets another show to showcase his talent.
