It is being reported that New Amsterdam will be coming to an end on NBC after five seasons. Currently airing Season 4, the medical drama received a rare three-season pickup back in early 2020 during its sophomore run that will take it to Season 5.
The series premiered in 2018 as one of the top-rated new shows among the freshman class. While its viewership has fallen off quite a bit since then, it still garners decent ratings in its regular Tuesday night time slot.
New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold in his first lead role in a TV series since playing Tom Keen on 'The Blacklist' and its failed spin-off, 'The Blacklist: Redemption'. Eggold stars as Max Goodwin, a brilliant doctor who is New Amsterdam Hospital's newest medical director. Wanting to disrupt the status quo, he sets out to bypass bureaucracy and focus on providing patients with exceptional care while dealing with his share of problems in his personal life.
13 final episodes have been ordered to conclude the show's story during the 2022-2023 season. It will be its lowest episode count yet, bringing its total to 92 - just shy of the 100-episode milestone. For now, new Season 4 episodes are airing Tuesdays, with the season finale scheduled to air on May 24.

"Be Woke OR be broke" is how the saying goes. Of course everyone on this site just commented woke without watching the show. This season was about max leaving and a non woke person coming in. I guess when it started to get an extremist people just stopped watching. If they would have " Stay Woke, Stay on-air"

So sad that you're taking this show off the air but glad it's having a season 5. It was really sad when you officially killed off Vijay!! Hope you tie up all the story arcs in a good way so Sharpwin and everyone has a happy ending!

Like others have said - it started off great but last season and this one have been “weird”. Perhaps someone will learn not to put politics into entertainment - they don’t belong there.

Loved this show for the first 3 seasons. Then, as previously stated, it became incredibly ridiculous and incredibly woke. Apparently the writers and producers are never going to learn.

I have not watched the current season as yet. I am glad it got a final season and hope they give it a good ending.

Wondering how this will end. I enjoy the show but 5 seasons seems a good time to say goodbye.

That's too bad... I still enjoy the show compared to say Greys. Yes some episodes were a bit much, but they're not all like that.
