The cop drama is set to surpass 100 episodes.
April 17, 2023
ABC announced today that The Rookie has been picked up for a sixth season. The news comes with three episodes remaining in the police drama's Season 5 run, which at 22 episodes matches its longest to-date.
The series premiered in 2018 as a high-profile new entry in the network's lineup. Headlined by Nathan Fillion, the show has consistently garnered solid ratings year in and year out. Season 6 will see it surpass the 100-episode milestone.
In The Rookie, Fillion plays John Nolan, a middle aged man who experiences a life-changing incident that inspires him to pursue his dream of being an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. But as the force's oldest rookie, he must deal with skepticism from senior officers and the demands of keeping up with not only the criminals, but the younger cops in the precinct.
Look for Season 6 of The Rookie as part of the 2023-2024 broadcast season.

Glad to see it got renewed. I Can watch NF chew the scenery in episode after episode. It has definitely gotten more woke as it's gone along, but so far it hasn't gotten to the point where it's really hurting episodes.
But at S6, I wonder for how much longer it could really go along, he's outgrown the whole "rookie" bit at this point.

I was expecting Nathan Fillion to join the MCU after Castle, but he instead did this. I am not mad, this is a good show and puts him front and center (although he has been not getting the same amount of airtime in recent seasons which is now focusing more on other characters). But I do wish he was an MCU staple. He has a bit part in GotG3, so there's that...

You got to hand it to Nathan Fillion. He is easily one of the most successful actors on TV today, and for good reason.

I stop watching during season 3. I haven't gotten the time or energy to start watching again.

@Donald T - what exactly does the term "woke" mean to you?

Glad they Renewed this, but I am wondering if The Rookie: Feds is getting cancelled since it wasn't announced at the same time.

For the thrill of it! Is he really still a rookie after 6 seasons? Also sounds a little on the woke side.
