ABC announced today that The Rookie has been picked up for a seventh season. The news comes midway through the police drama's Season 6 run, which was shortened to a series-low 10 episodes due to last year's writers strike.
The series premiered in 2018 as a high-profile entry in the network's lineup. Headlined by Nathan Fillion, the show has consistently garnered solid ratings year in and year out. It surpassed the 100-episode milestone earlier this year.
In The Rookie, Fillion plays John Nolan, a middle aged man who experiences a life-changing incident that inspires him to pursue his dream of being an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. But as the force's oldest rookie, he must deal with skepticism from senior officers and the demands of keeping up with not only the criminals, but the younger cops in the precinct.
Look for Season 7 of The Rookie as part of the 2024-2025 broadcast season.

Despite some elements of "The Message" being mixed into this show , it still has some decent writing and decent plot elements. Though the show is getting a bit long in the tooth at this point, I hope they decided to let it go out while it's all still good vs waiting until it sucks.
Still has a good season or two left to go.

Fantastic News! Nathan is the only reason I watch this show and am so happy to get another season of him!
If only we could get a reboot of Firefly when this show ends!!!!!!!!!

Good news. I enjoy Nathan Fillion shows. This is a good show. Some balanced humour and drama.
