CBS announced today that Young Sheldon will be coming to an end after its upcoming 7th season. The 'Big Bang Theory' spinoff will conclude its story with a final 14-episode run that will premiere on February 15, 2024. The show was last renewed in 2021, when it received a three-season pickup that included the 7th and final season.
"As a prequel to one of the biggest comedies, Young Sheldon proved lightning can strike twice," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. "It set itself apart with a remarkable cast that felt like a family from the first moment we saw them on screen and brought characters to life with unique heartfelt stories that drew audiences in from the start. We extend a sincere thank you to executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Steve Holland and the entire writing and producing teams for six wonderful seasons. We look forward to seeing their final season unfold and giving it a proper send off with the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy."
The series has been consistently strong in the ratings over the course of its run. It premiered as the #1 new comedy of the 2017-2018 television season and became the top comedy in the 2019-2020 season after 'The Big Bang Theory' completed its run. The show remains the #1 comedy for the 2022-2023 season and regularly outperforms its competition.
Young Sheldon follows a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas. At a young age, his advanced mathematical and scientific mind isn't necessarily helpful when living in a town where football and church get all the attention. Vulnerable, gifted and naive, Sheldon is embarking on his awkward journey toward the man he will become.

Loved this show. I'll miss it, a lot. As far as BBT, I could never get by the canned laughter enough to enjoy it. Young Sheldon was naturally funny, not needing phony laugh tracks.
Anyway, I'll miss the Coopers & the cast.

I never cared for the Big Bang Theory. Sheldon is a super genius, but does not know what a home run is? I never played baseball, but I have general knowledge of sporting terms. That being said, this show was superior to TBBT. 7 Years is a great run for a comedy. P.S. Brenda, if you have not seen this show by now, it probably should not become a priority.

Conquirstador is a sad sad little thing. So upset over two shows that nobody made shim watch. So glad this show ended so Conquirstador can have a happier life.

I always liked it more than the original show to be honest. Young Sheldon had a lot more soul and didn’t rely as much on the “smart/nerdy person said something smart/nerdy and that counts as a joke” move.

@Eminem Don't take anything Brenda says seriously. She is a troll. She only posts negative comments. She complained for years that Seth Macfarland got King of the Hill cancelled. When King of the Hill finally announced a renewal she said she refused to watch because the actress who played Peggy died..... Which isn't even true. The girl who played Luanne is the one who died. She just posts stupid shit to annoy people.
As for this show. Liked it a lot but not as good as BBT. Seven seasons sounds about right. We need a Raj cameo and a Lenard and Penny cameo though.

@Brenda Anderson, it's a funny show. If you are a fan of the BBT, it's worth the time. I mean, it's not like they will end it in the middle of season 2 just when you get into it. 7 seasons with 140 episodes should keep you busy for a while!

This is a natural ending. They kinda knew they would not get BBT longevity with this one, but it did way better than anyone expected.
