The classic panel game show is coming back this summer.
April 29, 2025
ABC announced today that Match Game is returning to the network for a new season this summer. The news comes three years after the 2016 revival was cancelled after five seasons.
Match Game originated back in 1962, going on to air numerous revivals over the decades that followed. The last update was hosted by Alec Baldwin and aired as part of ABC's summer 'Fun & Games' lineup through 2021. The upcoming season will be hosted by Martin Short.
In the show, four contestants compete for a $25,000 grand prize by attempting to match the answers of six celebrities in fill-in-the-blank questions.

Oh, so disappointed they're not bringing back Alec Baldwin. We've been watching the five seasons with him in reruns and those shows were funny and edgy and Alec Baldwin was so good as a host.

Hmm, they must think all the people who remember how truly awful the 1970's version of match game was have passed away otherwise why bring it back
Everything was just lame sexual innuendos that would get people cancelled today by the #metoo crowd

Funny show. I do wonder if Martin Short is edgy enough for this show? I will definitely check it out. The Baldwin version was pretty much the same as the Rayburn version.

Short is great.. but another game show in prime time?.. just don't get that mindset. Cheap to make I suppose. Not very entertaining though. Won't be watching.
