Netflix announced today that Virgin River has been picked up for an eighth season. It's another early pickup for the romantic drama, coming ahead of Season 7, which recently wrapped production and does not yet have a premiere date.
Since its premiere in 2019, the series has continued to be a strong performer for the streaming service. All six seasons have ranked in the Netflix Global Top 10 English series list, with the most recent sixth season debuting at #1. The show ranks as Netflix's longest-running current original scripted series and its longest-running English language drama of all time.
Based on Robyn Carr's bestselling book series, Virgin River follows a nurse practitioner looking for a fresh start. After moving from Los Angeles to a remote northern California town, she is surprised by the welcome she receives and who she finds there.
"On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters." ❤️
