The comedy spin-off will return for Season 2.

Freeform announced today at the inaugural Freeform Summit that Grown-ish has been renewed for a 20-episode second season. The early pickup comes just three weeks into the freshman comedy's run, which is off to a strong start for the cable network.
The show's premiere episode earlier this month now ranks as the top-rated comedy debut on Freeform in over five years. Critics have been praising the series as well, noting its social awareness and fresh portrayal of the college experience.
A spin-off of ABC's Black-ish, which is currently in its fourth season, Grown-ish follows the family's eldest daughter Zoey, who is heading off to college. Beginning her journey to adulthood will have its ups and downs as she does her best to navigate the messy world of campus life.

I'm not the biggest black-ish fan. I watched for a couple seasons until Deon Cole left and Wanda Sykes (who I can't stand) took his place. grown-ish is a great evolution of the show and the Zoey character. Because it runs on Freeform (and not network), they get much more leeway in terms of language and content and that helps make it a realistic image of college and leaving the house for the first time.
