Despite lows in viewership this year, the show is still a powerhouse for ABC.
May 10, 2012
ABC has renewed its long-running celebrity dance competition Dancing with the Stars for Season 15. On the air since 2005, the show remains a key player in ABC's schedule - airing two cycles during each typical TV season. Viewership, however, has dipped over its run, hitting series lows in its current fourteenth season.
Today's renewal leaves it unclear whether the show will continue its two cycle per season format with one installment in the Fall and another in the Spring.
There is no word on a return date for Season 15 of Dancing with the Stars, but it would be a good bet to assume a mid-September premiere.

When you bring "stars" that are already dancers in some form, it is not fair. It is also not interesting. If you are going to do the show, pick people who cannot dance so it is entertaining. If we wanted to watch professionals, we would chose the professional dance competitions to watch. We want people more like "us" who LEARN on the show.
