The CW announced today that Riverdale has been renewed for a third season. The drama is currently in the back half of its 22-episode sophomore run, which received an increased order after the success of its 13-episode first season.
Featuring re-imagined characters from Archie Comics, the noir-style drama follows Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead in their high school years as they deal not only with issues in each of their personal lives, but also with the aftermath of multiple murders in their small town.
Riverdale has continued to be a strong performer for the network in Season 2. Ratings have actually increased compared with its first season, while delayed and digital viewing remain strong as well. Those are all positive signs as the show winds down the current season, which continues with new episodes on April 18.

Archie is a mobster in training, Jughead is in a violent biker gang, Veronica actively schemes for her mobster father, Betty might as well be a psychopath waiting for the right trigger...not my Archie comics...
I understand not wanting to go with the extreme teen cheese of the comics, but this show has no resemblence, even in a little bit of spirit, to the OG comics. I like dark shows, but don't slap Archie comics on it and then not make it resemble anyhing like it.
