The new drama will return for Season 2.
March 7, 2017
The CW announced today that Riverdale has been renewed for a second season in 2017-2018. The freshman drama, which premiered as a midseason entry in January, features re-imagined characters from Archie Comics in a noir-style murder mystery.
Executive-produced by Greg Berlanti, Riverdale follows Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead in their sophomore year of high school as they deal not only with issues in each of their personal lives, but also with the aftermath of the death of one of their classmates.
Coming six weeks into the show's run, today's early pickup is The CW's first renewal for a new series so far this season. The move reflects the network's confidence in the direction of the show, which has garnered positive reviews from critics despite only decent ratings performance. Delayed and digital viewing, however, has shown more positive signs, with Riverdale becoming one of the network's most-streamed series.

Just heard recently that Skeet Ulrich was upgraded to a series regular. That's enough to get me to keep tuning in!

Good show! So glad it was renewed. I'm older than the target audience and no, I don't tune in for Luke Perry. Skeet Ulrich on the other hand......

Good show, I still have some DVR'd episodes I am looking forward to, and some of these other "network" shows coming out these days just suck arse!

Love this show and glad its been renewed! I am WAY past the target audience at 46 years of age, however, ive been reading Archie comics since I was 5 years old. This franchise can do no wrong in my eyes, ever. Im enjoying the different spin on all of the characters.

I'm not a tween or the targeted demographic but I seriously have been enjoying the show. I love a good murder mystery and I think they were spot on in their casting.

Glad it was renewed. It's not the best show on TV, but far from the worst. I'm surprised I enjoy it as much as I do since it's pretty much geared towards teens....and I am much older than that.
