The veteran reality series will return next summer.
September 5, 2019
CBS announced today that Big Brother will be returning next summer for its 22nd season. The good news comes with three weeks remaining in the reality show's current run.
The veteran series continues to be one of the summer's top rated shows. Airing three nights a week, each of its episodes consistently rank in the top 5 programs among adults 18-34.
In each season of Big Brother, a group of people move into a house together under the watchful eye of dozens of cameras that record their every move 24 hours a day. Each week one houseguest is voted out of the house until just one remains, receiving a $500,000 grand prize.
Look for Season 22 of Big Brother in the summer of 2020, with Julie Chen Moonves once again returning as host.

The show is only as good as the contestants they get.. and in the pat 5-7 years.. the pickings have been pretty darn bad. Not bad people mind you... just bad in terms of TV interesting... this past season was no exception, completely boring and way too much melodrama.

This is a show that used to be fun but is now tiring. In the beginning the contestants were pulled from a diverse group. Now they just go with the beautiful millennials who are narcissists and lacking in common sense. I read the spoilers and watch the live shows to see who leaves. Not much fun anymore but still a Summer "watch"

I'm glad it's renewed but if they don't cast better next year I don't know how much longer they'll be able to go. I've watched loyally for more than a decade and this year's cast made me give up. Hope they stop finding people on tinder and actually just take people who apply.

Harmless show. Cheap to make, It gets ratings and that means money so expect it to last for a long time. This is of course a copy of the british version which Is probably still on too.

Agree with Z and monk! It's easy to dismiss the show if you don't watch it. But it's all done in fun... it is produced in a very comical way that is often laugh-out-loud funny.
Add that to the fact that it IS a game and contestants will do whatever they can to win... all in an isolated environment... and, well, it's very entertaining!

Thank you Monk for speaking some sense on here. I've found that people hate on shows like Big Brother and Survivor, calling them "reality TV". They aren't reality TV. They are game shows. People competing for a cash prize. There is a high level of strategy in these games. And yes, they are ridiculous at times but always done tongue-in-cheek. I'd be curious what some of these haters consider "good" TV. Or if they've actually ever bothered to watch a season.
Oh and Bob with a B I will try not to lose sleep that you automatically think less of me now.

You guys don't get the joke! all of us loyal viewers know it's trashy, crappy or whatever, but it's fun crap, and is great escapist junk tv. Get off your high horse! I probably watch more PBS and documentaries than either of you! And I proudly admit I'm not on the NCIS track, along with all the other old, tired "procedural" cop, doctor and lawyer shows.
