The new comedy earns a back-nine pickup.
October 22, 2019
CBS today handed out an order for more episodes of Bob Hearts Abishola, giving it a full season. The Monday night comedy is off to a solid start in the ratings through its first five episodes, though the critical response has been mixed thus far. Today's pickup gives the show nine additional episodes to add to its original order of 13.
The half-hour series is the latest offering from creator Chuck Lorre. It follows a middle-aged man from Detroit who, after a heart attack lands him in the hospital, unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, who is a Nigerian immigrant.

LOVE the show! The honesty and irreverence on both sides will do more to promote racial understanding than forced political correctness. This is not racist. It's comedy and well balanced. Just laugh, enjoy laughing and quit over thinking it. Kudos to the writers!

I love this show. It is really a cute comedy. The aunt and uncle are great. The love story is sweet, not every relationship starts out as love at first sight,it takes time to build slowly. Give this show a chance. I don't understand why it's dubbed as racists? People need to stop being so touchy.

The show has been uneven. The two leads are good but Bob's family is just annoying. You do have to give the show props for showing what happens after a stroke -- it's not pretty.

The best part of this show is Abishola's family, her Aunt and Uncle are freaking hilarious. I watch because of them.

Not saying that this is must watch TV but it's the best one of the batch of new comedies this fall. Very disappointed overall thus I like my sitcoms. This one is cute and has potential which is more than I can say about the others.

There is ZERO chemistry here between the actors. None. Not int eh "romance" aspect and not in the "sock company" aspect. The ONLY bright spots in the entire show are Abishola's aunt and uncle.. all other characters are a wash. It's formulaic and predictable given the premise of American/Nigerian interaction.

There aren't many comedies anymore and it's so refreshing to have a good one... Thanks CBS for picking it up for a full season.
