Hallmark Channel's When Calls the Heart has been picked up for an eighth season. The good news was delivered by star Erin Krakow, who took to social media during last night's season finale with the announcement.
The cable network's oldest original drama currently on the air, the long-running series has been keeping up its solid performance for the cable network, making today's renewal a no-brainer. Its viewership has not appeared to suffer, either, in the wake of Lori Loughlin's absence.
Inspired by Janette Oke's book of the same name, When Calls the Heart takes place in the early 20th century and follows a young teacher from a wealthy eastern family who moves to a small western coal mining town for her first classroom assignment.
Look for Season 8 of When Calls the Heart in 2021.

Too many changes the past few years, with two of the three leads leaving. I stopped watching and didn't even know they had run a new season.
It's like soap opera. After awhile it slowly morphs into something that's unrecognizable from when you started watching it.

I really love the chemistry between Lucas and Elizabeth. They are absolutely adorable together. Great TV series.

@ dobey. I agree. Lori was cocky about it too. Felicity Huffman took it like a champ and admitted to all her wrong doings and she got a better deal. Do the crime, Do the time.

Lori should have shown some guilt. But she had none. the other actress, not from this show, made a deal.
