The veteran drama will continue in 2019.
March 21, 2018
Hallmark Channel announced today that When Calls the Heart has been renewed for a sixth season. The long-running drama has continued to perform well for the network in its current fifth season, drawing healthy ratings on Sunday nights against formidable competition.
Inspired by Janette Oke's book of the same name, When Calls the Heart takes place in the early 20th century and follows a young teacher from a wealthy eastern family who moves to a small western coal mining town for her first classroom assignment.
The series is the cable channel's oldest original drama currently on the air, and will hit the 50-episode mark when it airs its fifth-season finale on April 22. The show's run has been notable in that it has managed to build its audience with year-over-year ratings gains in key demographics.
Look for Season 6 of When Calls the Heart in 2019.

My wife and I were not aware of the show. We happen to catch the series in March of 2019. What an inspiration "When Calls The Heart has been to us. Praying that the series will continue. All is forgiven.

I have been waiting for the When calls the heart starting. Since the incident happened it doesn't give back what they are saying. It is supposed to be on Sunday nights. But it is not there. Please when can we watch it. The show is great and a wholesome program for the family. When can we expect it to air the 6th season? Thanks Audrey Spence

I just started season 1. I had never heard of the show, I am not much of a TV person. I heard of it after the Laughlin scandal and decided to check it out. I binged watched the first season, but after reading all the comments here that Jack is killed off I won't be watching anymore. totally stupid thing to do, Elizabeth and Jack ARE the show. He could easily have been recast!

Love this show. I watched the series on Netflix and was so sad to see Jack gone. They were perfect together. I agree that a recast would have been better. Miss Jack!

I watched the first show from season one about 3 months ago. I then proceeded to binge watch the first 4 seasons in 3 weeks on Netflix. I'm waiting for season 5 but watched the Christmas special anyway. My heart is breaking for the loss of Jack, and for Elizabeth. I have every plan to binge watch season 5 when Netflix gets it and to keep current with season 6 on Hallmark. This show is wonderful, I love it! Even with Jack gone, I have every confidence that I will continue to love and watch this show. <3

I am so heartbroken that Jack is not returning. I love this show so much and can't think of Jack not being there for Elizabeth and Jack Jr. The chemistry between Jack & Elizabeth was amusing. A love story that ended to soon.

Great Family Show. I was not surprised that something happened to Jack as he was not present for quite a few shows so I suspected he may be leaving.
A year ago we changed cable providers and we could not get the show on Sunday night. It was a show I looked forward to seeing and was disappointed until I discovered it could be ordered on the Super Channel. However the last few episodes did not appear until the third week in May - I had seen Episode 9 - it then disappeared from the list - all good now thankgoodness. I did enjoy watching Episodes from Series 1 and 2 that I had missed. Great Show!! Hope it keeps coming
for many years to come.

I am so sad about Jack being gone. It took so long for them to finally get together, it's just not fair to all of us who love the show not to be able to see them together for the birth of the baby. I don't think Daniel realized how much everyone loved him.

For all the people who want to know what happened behind the scenes to Daniel Lissing, take a look at http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/when-calls-the-heart which has an interview with the three principal actors including Lissing about what happened.
Lissing decided over a year ago to leave the series after his current contract expired for "deeply personal reasons". The interview made it clear he left on good terms and with the strong friendship of the other two principal actors.
Given that Lissing was leaving, the reasoning behind the decision to kill off Jack was talked about. And yes, he's gone.
