The veteran reality series secures another season.
May 7, 2020
CBS has confirmed that Survivor will be back for a 41st season. The good news came as the network released its returning lineup for the 2020-2021 season, further extending the veteran competition series' record-setting run as the longest-running reality show on broadcast network television.
On the air since the year 2000 with nearly 600 total episodes, the series is showing no signs of losing steam, as its ratings remain consistently solid. It is also one of few prime time shows that airs two cycles in a typical television season - another sign that viewers are not tiring of the format. For 2020-2021, only Season 41 is confirmed at this point, but a 42nd is likely.
The current 40th season of Survivor, dubbed "Winners at War", will be airing its finale next Wednesday. As the name implies, every contestant this time around had previously won the competition. The theme for Season 41 has not been announced, but could be previewed during next week's finale. A time frame for its premiere is not known, as filming has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Weren't they renewed until Season 42? Happy news still. This, Top Chef and Project Runway are the only "reality" competition shows I watch. Been an avid fan since Season 1 and it's interesting how the show has progressed (or regressed in some seasons). Season 40 is definitely at the top of my list.

Agree with Steve. It's comfort food. Started watching with my mom in 2000, she died in 08. It's a nice reminder. Plus, I abhor change. I like seeing Probst twice a year. Just like I want to see the same servers in my favorite restaurants. Think 'As Good as it Gets'. And LOL @ the snobs who denigrate those for enjoying a tv show. Just who is really sad?

Avid Survivor fan, just need to freshen up the game with more twists and turns...maybe on their off time instead of them hanging out on the beach, there could be scavenger hunts, besides the the idol. That would be a nice addition!

This show is comfort food. I've watched every season. They've managed to change it up, plus over the years contestant strategies have gotten a lot more complex.
Sure the setting is artificial, but so is society. It's about how people react when you put pressure on them.

I am surprised they are going to renew this show. After the false allegations against the man I would have they would have gotten rid of the show.

@ Brian R. Chill dude. It's others people opinions and it shouldn't make you lose sleep at night. Ignore them, enjoy your 50 yr old show and go on with life.

@Tv guy: The Jeffbot says, "It is (half second pause) time to vote." EVERY TIME. He also says, "First things first." EVERY TIME. Can't he say, "I'll take that idol back now..."? That's what I mean. Take the chopsticks out of your ears and listen up. Maybe he pushes your intellectual capacity to the limit, but then there are the thinking people.

For all you haters, what's your problem. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I have enjoyed every season, I don't agree with bringing people back on the show, but oh well. I have no interest in Real Housewives, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Dancing With the Tards, or Masked Singer. You know what? I just don't watch them.

LOL....i stopped watching back on Season 13! This is ridiculous and sad people still watch and want to do something so tired and old. Having this many has ruined it.
