The reality series will return this fall and next spring.
May 25, 2024
CBS is bringing back Survivor for two more seasons in 2024-2025. The veteran reality competition will return in the fall for Season 47, followed by Season 48 next spring.
On the air since the year 2000, Survivor is the longest-running reality show on broadcast network television. The series continues to be a reliable performer for CBS, airing two seasons each year.
As it has been doing since Season 45, episodes of Survivor will continue to be 90 minutes in length for Seasons 47 and 48.

Somehow, it's not the same. There were many legends from the first ten seasons I can still name but today I can't remember the winner from two seasons ago.
After all these seasons, the cost-cutting is beginning to show. They reduced the number of days, kept shooting on the same places in Fiji, don't bring family members over any more, and don't have the big studio audience episode at the end. They still pay only $1 million to the winner, which when adjusted for inflation since 2000 should be around $1.9 million today.
Heck, the only reason CBS went to 90 minute episodes of "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race" back-to-back is that they got it for free. They have hours of extra footage shot anyway by the nature of these reality shows. Instead of programming an original hour show to fill out the night, they just take up an hour with 30 extra minutes of Survivor and 30 extra minutes of Amazing Race for the cost of editing the existing footage in. Pretty lame, and a sad statement about the state of broadcast TV today.

I had stopped watching years ago because of the same ole same ole casting year after year. I got roped into watching this season and yikes, what a bunch of cry baby whiners!! What did they think they signed up for, cupcake camp?? Plus they get to have clean clothes so how much surviving is this anyway? And for the love of the game, why does Jeff prattle on and on while they are doing the challenges? Shut it sir!! OK I guess I am going to stop watching again until season 50 with the returning players.

I’ve always thought they should combine this show with the biggest loser. With only contestants over 300lbs.

The real test is if the moronic viewers can survive Jeffy the Robot who uses the same phrases such as "First things first..." ad nauseum with exactly the same cadence. And "it is time (insert 38.5 ms pause) to vote. Maybe we can get Turgid Dick Wolf to setup the show so we can see LGBTQRST's against straight people.

I agree with a lot of the comments. They need to cast better people who are PHYSICALLY, mentally and emotionally fit to play the game. It's not about age or gender. It's about wit and will power. Give us the offensive players. Give us the challenge monsters. Give us the confrontational Karens.
Another thing is that they really need to always separate REWARDS and IMMUNITY CHALLENGES. One challenge per episode is not enough. Almost 80% of the episode is filled with talking and background stories about the personal lives of players. IT'S NOT A TELENOVELA!!! A couple of minutes of the sad and empowering stuff is acceptable but 15-20 minutes of it is UNBREARABLE. This is not Dr. Phil, this is not a talk show, this is NOT a therapy session.

No longer the dayz of alpha-buffs & super-stratigist, casting seems to be focusing on contestants who sole strategy is the Sympathy-Card ("I'm allergic to pasta, but I get a Bourbon Burger every Survivor night", huh?). If casting is trying to make things more indicative to society, then God help us all.

They need to do better with casting...this last group was a bunch of whiners and crybabies! This is Survivor people! It was so painful to watch! It is highly doubtful most of them would have survived the first 20 seasons!

Is this news? They already showed previews for Season 47 last week

The show is continuing to do well in the ratings compared to most other shows and it’s being talked about more in the mainstream that it has been in a while. Plus they’re coming off a couple of really fun seasons in a row, so there’s momentum. Also Jeff already announced season 50 is going to be returning players, so it’s not a surprise.
Just pull back on the twists.
