The sci-fi drama will conclude in 2021.

Amazon announced today that The Expanse has been picked up for a sixth and final season. The news comes three weeks ahead of the drama's Season 5 premiere, which hits the streaming service on December 16.
The critically-acclaimed space opera got its start on Syfy, where it aired its first three seasons between 2015 and 2018. It was subsequently cancelled, but Amazon didn't take long in reviving the series after a substantial outcry from fans that even included an airplane banner being flown over Amazon Studios in Santa Monica.
Based on the novel series of the same name by Daniel Abraham, The Expanse takes place two hundred years in the future, with mankind having colonized the solar system. A hardened detective and a rogue ship's crew work together in a race across the solar system to expose a conspiracy that threatens the survival of humanity.
Production on Season 6 is reportedly set to begin in early 2021, with a likely premiere later in the year.

Every time I think it can't get better, it does. About halfway through season 5. I put this up there with Babylon 5 as far as story line and character development. Obviously the computer graphics now have the benefit of 10 years of technology but this only adds icing and sprinkles on the cake. The story, dialog and acting are all there!
I also wish someone else would pick it up, but that is too much to hope for. 6 years is a very good run nowadays. I would'nt be surpirsed if in the future Amazon released a 90 - 120 minute mini-movie based on it. This was done for Babylon 5, Dead like Me, etc. Good way to keep it alive a while longer

They release all eps at once. And Iloved season 1. This show is one of the best sci fi shows ever on tv. Glad for a final season. Lost in space has one this year too. Excellent show.

I didn't love S1 but S2 got interesting. Don't remember if I watched S3, but gonna wait till later this year to binge watch the S3/4&5 before S6. How does Amazon release this show, weekly or the full season??? Thanks

Don't know the books, but I thought it was fantastic.
Shame to see it go, but glad they get another, if final, season.

Sad news but book 5 and 6 were the best and a good place to end it. I did not like book 7 or 8

A tie between The Expanse and Battlestar Galactica as best space dramas ever !!! It is nice the producers will have time to wrap up their story, even though it could go on forever.

Awesome news, wish it could go on forever, but that is not feasable...
