The veteran drama will continue in 2021-2022.

NBC announced today that The Blacklist has been picked up for a ninth season. The good news comes just three episodes into Season 8, which returned last week from its winter break.
Led by James Spader, the series premiered in 2013 as one of the top new shows of the year. While its best days are behind it, the show still draws a respectable audience in its Friday night time slot. It is currently the network's third longest-running scripted series.
The Blacklist stars Spader as an ex-government agent-turned-FBI's most wanted fugitive, who mysteriously surrenders himself to the agency with an offer to help them bring down some of the country's top criminals. The only condition is that he gets to work alongside an FBI profiler named Elizabeth Keen, which leads to a twisting series of events that slowly reveal his true motives.
Look for Season 9 of The Blacklist to premiere this fall as part of the 2021-2022 season.

Update : they had an episode without Liz and it was a really good episode, they were going after a blacklister, imagine that! Love the rest of the cast, really miss Navabi though!

They have to get rid of Liz Keen to keep this show going.

WHY??????? I was really hoping James Spader could do something else. This show is ridiculous now. This show has been on too long and it takes a lot for me to go from liking the main character Liz to hoping she gets killed off. It's all about Liz drama and they don't even do actual blacklist cases anymore unless it revolves around Liz drama.

Well , I was hoping that this was the last season because it has gone off the rails with the lead character hunting red. I have and will continue to watch it though. I even watched the failed spin off series that ran 10 eps?. They need tp go back to hinting villians on the list.

They can't be serious. This show has been running on fumes for the past four or five seasons. It's like a soap opera. They keep changing the characters and the story until what you see now has no relationship with the beginning. Just look at the blacklist numbers. They're all used up and the show is too.

Should've ended at 8 seasons. Bad Liz is laughable. Hopefully she gets smoked at the end of the season.

Why? I mean it's just getting silly at this point. Now this season is Rouge Liz 2.0. It's time to bring this to an end.8 seasons would have been a great run. They should make 9 it's last.

Love the show.
But they need to find a way to end it before it kills itself.

I work on the show and I can tell you Will Ferrell and Mary McDonnell will be joining next season as regular characters
