Word is out that NBC has picked up The Blacklist for a tenth season. The good news was announced by star James Spader Tuesday night during an appearance on The Tonight Show.
Led by Spader, the series premiered in 2013 as one of the top new shows of the year. While its best days are behind it, the show still draws a respectable audience in its Friday night time slot. It is currently the network's third longest-running scripted series.
The Blacklist stars Spader as an ex-government agent-turned-FBI's most wanted fugitive, who mysteriously surrenders himself to the agency with an offer to help them bring down some of the country's top criminals. The only condition is that he gets to work alongside the FBI, which leads to a twisting series of events that slowly reveal his true motives.
Look for Season 10 of The Blacklist to premiere this fall as part of the 2022-2023 season.

I love James Spader & I love this show. I enjoy seeing the guest stars from the 80's ! Huey Lewis was my first concert when I was in 5th grade! Well done directing Andy M. I will watch 20 seasons of Jim Spader. I still think People Mag should vote him sexist man a live!

I really just keep watching this show for James Spader at this point. The whole premise really died with the Liz character. They will hopefully put a pin in it soon and be done before it overstays it's welcome...and it's close to that point now, even as much as I like watching JS chew the scenery.

I have been with this show since the beginning and as much as I have loved it, it is getting stale and I think it's time to end the chapter.

The only reason to watch this show any more is for James Spader. His Red takes center stage every time he's on screen. The rest of it has drifted so far from the original premise that it no longer makes any sense.
I thought the current season was going to be the last. How many more made-up villains can this series come up with? Half the time they don't even get Blacklist numbers any more.
