The veteran drama will continue in 2021-2022.

NBC announced today that The Blacklist has been picked up for a ninth season. The good news comes just three episodes into Season 8, which returned last week from its winter break.
Led by James Spader, the series premiered in 2013 as one of the top new shows of the year. While its best days are behind it, the show still draws a respectable audience in its Friday night time slot. It is currently the network's third longest-running scripted series.
The Blacklist stars Spader as an ex-government agent-turned-FBI's most wanted fugitive, who mysteriously surrenders himself to the agency with an offer to help them bring down some of the country's top criminals. The only condition is that he gets to work alongside an FBI profiler named Elizabeth Keen, which leads to a twisting series of events that slowly reveal his true motives.
Look for Season 9 of The Blacklist to premiere this fall as part of the 2021-2022 season.

Is Keen's mother REALLY dead? Does anyone know (or care) who Reddington is? Does he even know? Let's get some lottery numbers into the show as in "Lost" and run it another 5 years.

This show was a great show but has long since ran it's course. Unless someone radically changes the format I don't really see a successful future for The Blacklist.

This show went down the crapper ever since Tom died. I quit watching it because it got way too confusing and the storyline with Reddington not knowing who he really is and everything is a bit much.

Have to agree with some of you, storyline of who Reddington is and his relationship with Keen is getting a little long, but I really like James Spader, and I think he is excellent in this role, so I will keep watching!

Honestly I thought this would be the last season of this once great show. Honestly the storyline of who Reddington really is starting to wear thin.

Perhaps they will finally write Megan Boone's character out of the series. If all FBI agents had this level of intelligence, the agency would rename themselves to Federally Bloated Idiots. It's probably the worst writing there is.
