The veteran comedy will conclude this May.
February 17, 2021
CBS announced today that Mom will be coming to an end after its current eighth season. The news, which comes two years after the comedy was last renewed through Season 8, is not a complete surprise after co-star Anna Faris left the show at the end of last season.
Created by Chuck Lorre, the half-hour series has been one of the network's top comedies over the course of its over 150-episode run, delivering solid ratings week in and week out. The show follows the lives of a mother and daughter who are both struggling with addiction issues, tackling serious issues like death and alcoholism while mixing those topics with genuine and witty humor.
Look for the series finale of Mom on May 6.

It takes a special type of person to enjoy a Chuck Lorre program. Similar to those who like watching "The Apprentice".

I still never got over the change in the direction of the show after the first two seasons! I had an issue with basically pretending Christy's kids didn't exist and stopped watching.

,, as I posted.. ignore the old folks.. they are irrelevant in the 18-49
viewer demographic which matters.

The show lost its way as most of Chuck's sitcoms. Where is the brother, the children, etc? Most characters were good...except for the 3rd rock actress, whose acting was poor. Liked the wheelchair guy & Jill. Allison can not hold the show without Anna. Stopped watching a few episodes into this season.

"Ignore all the grandparents here who like Janey... it's an old folks thing apparently." WTF? Ageism is an ugly colour. Do you expect mature individuals to be truly entertained by the overhyped, overdramatic, predictable shallowness of the many shows populated with immature 20 year olds? Unbelievably unrealistic. Besdes, if you are really, really lucky, you will be a grandparent someday. Hopefully you'll have developed appreciation for nuance and depth by then. Good luck finding anything worth your time to watch.

I am sorry to read this. The show is still great even without Anna Faris.

I expected this once Anna Faris left the show. When main characters leave it seems the shows carry on just a little more and then end. At least it's getting an ending.

Great show....so funny....Janey is amazing but hear her contract was up this year. Has to be the reason because networks love ratings and Mom's were high
