The veteran comedy will surpass 200 episodes in 2022.
May 14, 2021
ABC announced today that The Goldbergs has been picked up for a ninth season. The good news arrives ahead of the comedy's Season 8 finale next week.
A consistently-reliable performer for the network, the series ranks as one of its highest rated comedies among adults 18-49. It even spawned 90s-set spin-off 'Schooled', which ran for two seasons before being cancelled last year.
Loosely-based on the childhood of creator Adam F. Goldberg, The Goldbergs takes place in the 1980s and follows an overprotective mother, her hot-tempered husband, and their three kids, who are a handful to say the least.
Look for Season 9 of The Goldbergs to premiere this fall as part the 2021-2022 season, where it will surpass the 200-episode milestone - an impressive accomplishment for a live-action comedy these days.

âI hope ABC rescinds the renewal because my current 30 minutes are precious.â
Hahahaha what? Canât you just...not watch the show if your time is so precious and you donât like it? You think ABC is gonna see this and think âI know this show has great ratings but someone on the internet with the username âwhatwhatwhaaat?â said they donât like it and their time is precious so we better cancel this show.â

Even though i enjoy the show ,i would think this should be final season ,9 years high school ??? ,come on ...and much of the 1980s has been pretty much covered by now , though i think this is way better than the upcoming wonder years reboot ( why oh why reboot that series ) i still think this is better and i dont see it surviving much more after George segal's sad passing .... 200 episodes is a good way to bow out ....

The actors are all in their 30s playing teens, Adams arms are hairier than Robin Williams

Tucker, I'm gonna do my best to follow your smart opinions with some of mine. We are crocheted from fabrics. And I don't want to start a "flame war" with everyone who allegedly watches the Bergs with their family. But doesn't it just get weird when the last six seasons all end with: {paraphrased} ".. in the end, it's the people you love, know, or talk to or habitat with that can get you through any, and this weeks' tribulation." That is some schtick.

Agreed. Aside from the horrible anachronisms in just one decade, creator Goldberg has no sisters. It has turned into a weekly 'remember when' or 'remember that.' Followed by ridiculous, 'we loved that and did that too in the eighties.' I hope ABC rescinds the renewal because my current 30 minutes are precious.

The shine is gone.. time to end it. It's not really funny any longer. The "schtick" of Barry and Bev is just wearing thin.
