The comic-based dramedy will continue in 2023.
July 21, 2022
Syfy announced today that Resident Alien has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes midway through the dramedy's sophomore run, which is slated to return from its midseason break on August 10.
The hour-long series premiered in January 2021, garnering favorable reviews and healthy ratings. Its momentum has continued in Season 2, where it currently ranks as one of the 15 most-watched shows on cable.
Based on the Dark Horse comic, Resident Alien follows an alien named Harry that has crash landed on Earth with a mission to kill all humans. He decides to pass himself off as a small-town doctor to mix in among the people, but things get tricky when he gets pulled into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate further into his new surroundings. As he does this, Harry starts to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his mission and begins wondering if humans might be worth saving.
Look for Season 3 of Resident Alien in 2023.

So glad this got renewed. The second season was not as good as the first, but still a good weekly watchable show. Alan Tudyk is just an amazing actor with such great facial expressions. This role goes to the top of my list along with Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball!

I'm ambivalent about season 3. Just where is this story going? The first season was great because it was all about the alien adapting. But as he gets more humanized, the series is becoming more and more like a romcom.
SyFy has a hit on its hands, probably its only one. They're going to milk the series for as long as it lasts, until nothing of value exists any more.

Just found out that this series is based on a comic.
If only it has enough large fanbase, I bet many would complain about many aspects that got changed in the series, e.g. starting with how the alien looks.

This is the one true gem on the SyFy network. Since NBCUniversal is trying to kill anything unique about this channel, I'm surprised it lived to see another season.
I just hope the stories don't run out of gas.

I loved season one and the 2nd season was so bad and elementary school humor. What happened???? Hope season three is better written.

@Tanya Google is not your friend ( hint: it has been proven that it uses algorithms to show one side of the political spectrum)

There's a whole lot on the right that annoys me (along with now most of the left) that disgusts me. But to just say that is worse than skating away on thin ice. The overwhelming influx of illegal resident aliens (closing in on 1.5 million), criminals, and drugs, under Biden, shouldn't be a partisan concern and it is becoming somewhat less so because of how many people are being harmed. The lawlessness is backfiring in all ways and Latinos are becoming more conservative than ever. Latino friends blame inflation on Biden. The parallels with the TV show are deep as you know people can't be so oblivious to reality - people aren't that stupid. But they really are. What's funny in a TV show is playing out in our wacked country and it ain't funny. Some are so far gone they even forgot to call me racist.

Alan Tudyk is great in everything, Aethn. I think that his performance in this show finally edged out his role in "Death at a Funeral," which held the top spot in my mind before this season. He is stellar, and so is the show.
As for idiocy, Huh? is putting out some disinformation. You can't get lower than idiot based on the scientific description, and I would probably clock those both sides of the argument as imbecilic.
No matter what anyone does / what policies are in place, people will illegally enter this country just like the vast majority of people will eventually travel over the speed limit or jaywalk. Reagan allowed illegal immigrants to become citizens / Clinton made stricter immigration restrictions. We're all here to enjoy the good times, and this bipartisan crap is annoying.

This show has become one of my absolute favorites! Aethn and Jayna are dead on! I'm really happy that there are still more episodes of Season 2 but hate having to wait for Season 3! :)
